I have completed three latest Scenarios Revisited updates - you can now download RCT2 versions of

Whispering Cliffs
Three Monkeys Park, and
Canary Mines

These are the first three scenarios in the Corscrew Follies/Added Attractions expansion pack. I would have had them sooner, but I had to play through Whispering Cliffs a couple times to get the goal right because of the change in park value calculation and the complete dearth of beta testers...

Anyway go HERE to download them. Expect more soon.

Also - I updated the RCT2 version of Crumbly Woods I had made - somehow I had the goal at 20 years - I don't remember if that was intentional or not - but now it seems crazy - I dropped it to 4 years and lowered the guest total a little. You can get the new version at the same link above.

Note to moderators - please unpin the topic above and pin this one in its place. Mucho gracias...

As noted above - expect Haunted Harbor soon - it is virtually done except for one thing - the rides Woodpecker and Ghost Ride are 64 and 35 years old (or something like that). The scenario editor does not allow you to select the age of pre-planted rides (unfortunately) - so I just age them the old fashioned way - let the game run and run and run.... Haunted Harbor has now been running straight on my computer for more than 24 hours and at about an hour per game year, I am still only in the mid 20s. I plan on aging them both to about 34 years and leaving it at that. After that I have to figure out how I am going to deal with the entrance to Future World and getting back to that bug/quirk that doesn't let you place building rights over the main entrance path... I am hoping fervantly (although will not be surprised if not) that Wacky Worlds takes care of some of these bugs/quirks/omissions... We shall see in a matter of days, I guess.

Dakinle-
I believe that both 8 cars per trainer and son of beast both have features allowing you to set a ride's age. You should try these, instead. (I know 8 cars does for sure).

That's what I get for not keeping up on the latest trainers...
8 cars certainly does have that feature
and to think I wasted a whole weekend running the game LOL!

PS - thanks to K-Dogg RCT2 Haunted Harbor is up and it is the way I wanted it - thanks again K-Dogg!!!

RCT2 Future World is now up too.

For this park I had to move the park entrance a little and adjust the Suspended Monorail to compensate for the "idiot proofing" programing that forbids game players from designating any portion of the entrance path even as "construction rights"... :ermm: ... Oh well - it looks good anyway...

PS - I'll put the link here again so you don't have to scroll up: Scenarios Revisited

I believe (although to be honest I have not tested - no motivation) that old rides perform differently in RCT1 and RCT2. The "reliability" of the ride is a clue. A 34 year old coaster in RCT2 will likely have a reliability rating of under 10%, and possibly as low as 0%. I'm not sure what it is in RCT1.

I have run a bunch of RCT2 parks for 20+ years while stress-testing my coasters. It has led me to the conclusion that the "small" (i.e. mice) coaster types should be demolished at about 10 years, while the "big" coasters can safely go 20 years, but don't count on much more than that.

So I suspect that if you want to duplicate the playing experience of RCT1 scenarios, the rides should not be as old as their RCT1 counterparts.

The reliability rating is in a constant state of flux in RCT2 - after the ride is inspected, after it is fixed - it goes up and down - this was the same in RCT1.

In running Haunted Harbor all weekend - I ran Woodpecker for 30+ years and it never crashed. It broke down, but the reliability rating would be as high as 40% even at 30 years old after it was fixed from a breakdown.

In my experience reliability is not the most significant factor, it's ride age. As rides get older, you can charge less and less for them as guests get 'bored' of them.

So I think getting ride ages are important to get right in scenario recreations. Important, but impossible to achieve using the current sets of utilities.

Over to you humble_programmer. ;)
