Many of you are starting polls here on a regular basis these days. To avoid putting a foot wrong, here's some guidence.
  • Consider the question carefully. Is it going to be controversial? If so you may want to make it a poll only without replies allowed. There are certain subjects such as religion and politics that you should be careful of and avoid where possible
  • Have you considered every possible answer? This one's tough and with only 10 options available you may need to opt for an "other" selection to avoid people complaining that their option isn't up there. Please remember that you cannot change your options later so check and double-check before posting the poll in the forums.
  • Is your question suitable? Are you asking something too personal or are you asking something that only a few members will know anything about?
  • Are you going to be around to answer questions and monitor the poll? In some situations, it is useful for the thread starter to visit the poll on a regular basis to ensure that people are happy and to answer any questions that have arrisen from the poll.
  • The newest version of the poll utility allows multiple questions. When including multiple questions remember that each question needs to be answered by the member before the member can submit a completed response. Answering only one question is not enough.
Please also bare in mind that Mods have the right to close and delete any unsuitable polls or comments from these forums.

Thanks for reading this.
