Dear RCTSpace Forums Members,
I thought this would be an appropriate time to introduce some of the members of my staff here in the RCT Research Department. Each of these talented individuals brings their full expertise to the project and it is fitting that we recognize their service. After all...what's a park without research? An over-priced chunk of farmland if you ask me.
So here's our hard working team:
Derwood Winger
Derwood heads up our Guest Services Division. They are in charge of such services as Lodging and Accomodation, Guest Personal Hygiene and Restroom Design, and leads our "Two Ply vs One Ply" long-term research project.
Lonnie Swineherder
Leads our Animal Research Division. Lonnie oversees the creation of all animal support structures for your park, as well as the animals themselves. Since Lonnie is allergic to all types of animal dander, he has had to work hard to distill his findings into a short, concise treatise entitled "They Eat, They Walk, They Poop...A Moron's Guide To Park Animals".
Lonnie is the all-time leader in our Research Department in obtaining large private grants and generous public funding for his work, some of which he used last summer to study fauna at Club Med's around the globe.
Milton Fritzpatrick
Milton heads up our Employee Training Programs. Milton works hard at setting down on paper detailed step-by-step instructions on such diverse subjects as "Toilet Cleaning 101", and "Removing Projectile Vomit From Synthetic Fabrics".
Forrest "Dealin' Dinky" Dinkmiester
Leads our Park and Ride Advertising Campaigns Research Division. A former eight-time winner of the "Salesman of the Month" at Lou's Used AutoRama, "Dealin' Dinky" is a pro at discovering ways to get your peeps clammering to ride that re-painted deathtrap of a coaster through such innovative campaigns as "Find the Lucky Rusty Bolt" and "Carrousel Russian Roulette".
"Bull" Swenson
Bull is in charge of our Park Security Research. His job is to discover new ways that your peeps find to destroy your property and to fine-tune the tasers your Park Security Guards use to stop them. Due to his fear of germs...and of traffic...and of air conditioning...and of human contact in general, "Bull" usually performs his reseach at home, watching hours of surveillance tapes provided by our customers.
Mort Kimble
Leads up both our Flat Ride and Coaster Research Divisions. If someone has designed a new track or ride anywhere on earth, you can be assured that Mort will have a cheaply made knock-off ready to be installed in YOUR park the next day.
Since asking RCTSpace Forums to assist with our testing process, we have taken on two new members to the team...
Margarat "Formerly Mrs. George" Johnson and
Pookiekins The Wonder Dawg
These two share the oversight of our Animal Testing Facility. While I'm a little foggy on who's doing the oversight and which animal is doing the testing, you can rest assured that all future attractions will be fully tested above and beyond the point of human endurance. While some of you may note that Pookiekin's photo is a mugshot from a Police lineup and Ms. Johnson provided one from her jail cell, I assure you that both individuals passed a stringent background check done by, and were in fact vouched for, by none other than Community Fashion Maven Ms Edna Mae Turnblatter herself, who noted that Ms Johnson's tab at Ernie's Liquor Emporium required more than Ms Johnson's paltry alimony check each month even with the bottle deposits back.
From time-to-time we will be asking the general membership here at RCTSpace to assist us in grading submitted projects, however, as you can see with such a crack team already in place, we won't need to ask for assistance very often!
I hope you've enjoyed meeting everyone here, remember that our research is a deeply serious endeavor, and we are in need of the entire RCTSpace membership's support in our efforts towards our goal of Bigger and Better Theme Parks for Tomorrow!
Sincerely,
Walter Krum

You are quite welcome RCTtom.
I hesitated to include photos of the team, but despite the possibility that I will be overwhelmed with fan mail from future groupies, I decided that this crew is highly professional and no matter how many people refer to them as "Research Department Studmuffins", they will remain humble research scientists with no interests in the carnal side of humanity. Well...other than our monthly staff "Sock Hops" where the boys really get down and boogie.
One month we plan to invite some girls of the female persuasion...

The daughter of a friend of mine, immediately fell in love with the picture of Lonnie Swineherder.
She asked if she can have his e-mail address, (btw, she also is fond of Club Med !)

Hate to bump this since there hasn't been any activity since last year.
But has this been cancelled? Or has the leading member decided to cash it in?
Anyone want to do this? Do you need someone to take over?

Actually, out of the last four "projects", we had three where there were no entries at all...it was pretty obvious that there was little or no interest, especially when I, myself was the only entry for a couple of them.
If people don't care to enter, then why bother to put forth the effort setting things up? I'd much rather go work on my own park than spend time doing something no one else wants to participate in. That's not sour grapes, that's just reality! LOL!
It's the same feeling I think Becky had when there were no entries for the last Halloween contest. There seems to always be a lot of posts saying people want this sort of stuff and how great it will be, but when we actually set something up, most back out at the last minute or we don't get any entries at all.
The number of people in the community who actually are really into competitions has become rather small, that core group is good about entering, but they too only have two hands and only so much time, so if there's multiple contests going on they have to pick one. Then there's a number of mainly newer players who are really enthused at the start, but then soon find out that preparing entries for RCT competitions cuts into their social lives a bit too much and they just drop out. Perfectly understandable, but that makes it hard to keep up the numbers of people actually willing to follow through and make a competition a success.
If anyone has a realistic plan to bring back the RCT3 competitions we'd welcome hearing them...

If you are asking my opinion, I think that since RCT Space is generally known for their focus on RCT 2. So I figured that some folks probably didn't bother to look around to find something new.
Another point is that the DL files, are gone. There's no way to find out what was done before, so that's kind of a deterrant for people to enter when they don't see what went on in the recent past.
Rarely does a competition hit the ground running. People have to discover the competition, or read an announcement somewhere. I don't know if this was done. It probably could of helped.
I hadn't noticed if there was DL-able benches, (if there were, I hadn't noticed.) but that might of been an element that brought about non-intrest in the competition. I think that the closer that RCT 3 competitions resemble RCT 2 competitions, MAY make the RCT 3 competitions more "familliar". It needs all the help it can get. And maybe even a bit of guidance to make competitors feel like it's familliar territory.
What I would do is create a pinned & closed topic/post that explains where cirtain custom scenery files go in the folders. OR link to a page where this is explained. I believe that this is still confusing to many, as well as myself. But I do enjoy RCT 3 very much, so this is something I'm willing to learn personally. I hear it's pretty simple, so...
But there ARE forums that are doing fairly well with their competitions. I don't quite understand why the RCT 3 competitions haven't found a handful of participants here. I find that a bit odd. Perhaps we're just not fishing in the right pond. Perhaps bring people over from other forums by advertising?
Anyway. I do like RCT Space. If I hadn't been busy with other projects in the past, I might of hooked up with this aspect of RCT Space. But, IF there IS anyone interested in RCT 3 competitions. I mean really wanting to build smaller parks for competitions, then I think they should respond here. I would think that over nearly a year's time, people would have gotten more familliar with the inner workings and would be ready for something like this.

The problem is simply that the RCT2 players here are for the most part very vocal for their contempt of RCT3, and those who are RCT3 players seldom enter contests. The VP3D has been ongoing, yet all those people who show screens here don't submit.
It's hard to continuously advertise and promote to a nonresponsive audience. We did nearly a year of advertising here and at other sites. No interest...
RCT3D.com is undergoing an update in silence behind the scenes - but isn't top of the priority list since people rarely visit or discuss it.
If there is a new interest in RCT3, VP3D, Nutz & Bolts, or any RCT3 contest - it's news to us as it doesn't appear in the forums.
