It's becoming quite popular to have images in your signature. I would just like to take this opportunity to remind everyone on a few points:

1. If you do have an image in your signature, please keep it quite small. My current image, for example, is only 15kb.

2. Please also note that you are not allowed to have animated images in your signature, it's a little distracting and the size is usually too great.

3. Keep in mind that you are allowed to have animated avatars, granting they are an acceptable size.

Thank you for your time.

I'd also add that if you go into the Control Panel and select Board Settings, you can choose not to have people's signatures (images et al) displayed. This can really speed things up if you have a slow connection.

I also think it would be a good idea to limit picture size to something like 325x60 or text, but not both, which would tidy things up a lot.

You mean you can't have both an image & text in a sig?

I thought the idea of our technilogical development was to encourage the use of multi-media! I think it's absolutely fine to have text and an image in most cases (mine for instance I think is fine).

However, there are some members who have very large test in their signiture. I think that this should be discouraged because it genuinely is a little too distracting.

Is this still a rule? Because the owner and webmaster of this site have animated signatures.

Is this still a rule? Because the owner and webmaster of this site have animated signatures.

I don't think that this is any longer an issue regarding signatures images. They do not use up any of our bandwidth because they are hosted on the internet elsewhere, and they can add a nice effect to the forums.

However please be aware that signature images should be animated minimally. The idea is not to distract members from the actual posts. We will keep an eye out for members with over-animated signature images.
