In this guy's opinion - it is a little more difficult for a mini park to score as well as a megapark. There is usually not as much in the way of content to really get the feel of a unified theme, architecture, or landscaping. The flip-side is also true - it is a harder task for a megapark to maintain consistent architecture without it being boring, or keeping a theme interesting without straying too far off the point.

I would not support a statement that smaller parks have less of a chance than megaparks of attaining a first place. It is a much different challenge. Also, the less experienced parkmakers generally have better results with a medium to small park. The more skilled and experienced parkmakers stand a better chance of overcoming the unique challenges that are part and parcel of the larger and megaparks.

...just my opinion folks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought VP was set up to showcase the ultimate park to go take your vacation this month... So a park that small will be a very short vacation (and that's an understatement) I think...

Yes, but it is really more than that. But that is the concept. Doesn't have to be a big vacation, a long weekend or day trip is quite possible. ;)

There is nothing wrong with a short vacation if the destination is desireable.

Then I would change the contest name to something like 'Trip of the Month' ;)

QUOTE (AustinPowers @ Mar 27 2004, 03:56 PM)
This was my pick (of the parks entered) for VP this month.

Do you honestly think this was better than Scarborough??

Just to clarify something....I didn't write that review. It was rwadams pick. I didn't judge this round and if I did...I would have picked this park as 1st runnerup with the TT park as 2nd runnerup...and I thought Scarborough deserved the VP.

I think OCF did a nice job as did citytrader...but I agree that a VP park should have more meat to the park than these two did....more of a total theme park would be a nice place to vacation...

But I also agree with Sambo...that it is the luck of the draw, the amount of entries, the various opinions of judges...etc..and I don't think we have had one month where everyone was in total agreement across the board with the judges...except maybe the month we had Wisconsin....but at the same time...thats what makes VP special IMO....we do get to see various parkmakers and different types of parks...and thats a good thing :)
