Steve has given me permission to post whatever I like, so here are some screenshots. All the buildings and rides except for the Toonerville Funhouse and Auditorium were all done by Steve. The Giant Dipper was a collaboration. All the screenshots are url to save this site's bandwidth.

If anybody is interested in reading about the rides and the piers, Stanton's website is excellent (just click on 'Historic Articles'). The following link is to an interactive map. Click on the red dots/aeroplane and it shows you photos.

Steve also wrote about them in the doc file of his 'Ocean Park Coasters' trackpack, linked in my previous post.

Enjoy the screenshots! :D

Remaining buildings include the theatres and Bon-Ton (later Aragon) ballroom on Lick Pier, which will be made in due course. Hopefully it won't be too long before work restarts. :)

It's good to hear you're working on this. Don't rush it, this is worth waiting for so I'll be patient. RCT Station was my favourite site back in the day and I've browsed through the archive many times!

I don't know, but I sent Steve an email last night asking him. I suspect he wants to release all the recreations in one go, so even though some of the other benches are complete he isn't uploading them. This is pure guesswork, though. I'll write here when I know. Sorry for late reply: I haven't been on these boards for a while.

EDIT: I've sent Steve another email asking if I can post the Ocean Park bench here for play testing. If he gives his permission, I'll zip it and add it to this thread. :)

haha, I was just gonna email Steve. We used to talk on AIM quite a bit last year, showed me pics of stuff and gave me a workbench for a park called Boblo Island. Then he just disappeared, again. That's nice of you to do this Woopecker, thanks!

The new bench should be like a 256x256 park with all his recreations built. I know it wouldn't really BE a bench, but it's just my idea for Steve's next project.

Wow, he gave you the file for Boblo Island? If the screenshots he sent me of Puritas Springs are anything to go by, it must look amazing. Steve took a lot of care with Ocean Park too, especially the coasters. On the Giant Dipper alone he spent 2 weeks hammering out many mistakes, tightening up the ride and playing 'Sherlock Holmes'. There are very few surviving photographs of this ride (demolished in 1936) and people tended to take them from the beach, resulting in only the lift, fan turn and third drop being easily visible. Most of it was hidden from the park patrons too, either because of buildings or Church's trick of running the lower sections inside the upper ones. The actual ride was a complicated three-tier design with 16 hills, 3 swoop curves, 1 drop curve, 1 camel back and a double-up. Recreating it was fiendishly difficult and very frustrating. Although it is less twisted the High Boy isn't that easy either, but more photos survive because it was renamed the 'Sea Serpent' for Pacific Ocean Park and lasted right until the end. Steve's recreations of the park buildings and coaster stations are just beautiful.

No problem! I'm sure he'd appreciate hearing from you, rather than me saying "people are interested..." XD His plate was full last time he wrote (2 months ago to the day) and he asked me to bear with him. Aside from the Bon-Ton, there is work needing to be done on the Municipal Auditorium (it shouldn't be symmetrical, I've discovered) and maybe a small amount on High Boy's rollout tunnel and the station of Giant Dipper. Then one further park project with the Ocean/Lick bench. :)

Sounds good Woodpecker, and thanks again. :) Would you like me to send you that Boblo Island workbench and do you have AIM? I'd like to talk to you....
