But he then would not work on the RCT2 expansions. That's where Frontier became involved for the first time.
When RCT3 was on the drawing board, Sawyer did not want the hassle of running such a large project that would require a large development team. So far his products have been him and 2 other people, he does the main AI and GUI, one to do most of the graphics, and one to do the sound/music.
So RCT3 was developed by Frontier, while Sawyer finished Locomotion. Sawyer's site has not been updated since February 2007, the news section was last updated in 2005. His main focus may still be on resolving his legal disputes with his publisher's. Who knows? But I don't expect to see him involved in any further RCT games. The way he preferes to work, I doubt we'll ever see him involved in any 3D games.
Besides, he still owes me bug fixes for RCT2 and Locomotion!

If anything.... POSSIBLY a cheap isometric game... But he ain't making no RCT no longer. I can imagine him making one more game... But still... Even that is a probably not.
if sawyer can do it basically alone what would stop one of us doing so..... i for one if i had further programming knowledge to that i have now i would wanna try...... i may yet!

I don't know about the others, but I'm under the impression that the majority like to use the game in a "sandbox" mode. Rather than completing scenarios. Just to build parks, that's what I'm talkin' about. Then I'd do SOMETHING about all the stuff that won't export with the saved game files. It's either that, or the rest of us DL everything out there, and we won't have to worry about the non-exporting files.

if i was to make an rct game, it would be for the sandbox mode but obviously it would have scenarios as some do play it for this. i would like a sandbox mode that allows zero clearances as standard and a built in object building where players could make there own scenary which would automatically be imported into the object data.

DL = DownLoad

CS = Custom Scenery
DL = DownLoad
thanks that makes sense now!
Seems to me, that the community has already done so much with RCT 2, that it would be foolish to try and come up with something else that does not take advantage of the CS that so many have already created. In my opinion, a new game could possibly be just a patch that would expand, indefinatly, to take advantage of these community files. Without limitations. Taking RCT 2 and let out the stops, as it were.

if we were to do an rct2 without any limitations, this would mean re-writing most of the code anyway. wouldn't it be better if improvements were made all round. it could host lots of new features that would appeal to sandbox players like built in trainers. i just dont think its very original to change something as opposed to making it from scratch.
