I had no difference running RCT3 on 2000 or XP. When I upgraded to a faster system and a much better graphics card - I rarely encounter lag. The park has to be very large and a lot of activity going on before the lag starts to show up. It's still there - I just rarely encounter it now.

I think if you uninstall everything, and start fresh you will have more luck.
And, if you really want an updated version of the game, you can get the gold or platinum version in the stores or online.
Then there would be no need for you to have to upgrade the game.
At least, that I know of.

I have the same problem sambo.
The longer I play a park, the more stuff goes on the slower it gets.
IMO, three is a good game, but they changed it too much from the way things are done in two and the CS issue to me is a nightmare, in so far as installing a park that has CS.

Maybe I've been doing wrong or something!! LOL!!!
Ole Duke is kinda impatient though!!! LOL!!!

I'm installing RCT3 on my new computer that uses Linux Ubuntu. I'm using Wine to play it.

EDIT: TESTING, TESTING, TESTING....

We read you loud and clear.

You could use a little more bottom end on the guitar mic though.

Yeah, I tried it on Vista and it works fine now, no lag, even on Extreme!
