One thing that really bothers me is the sense of 'entitlement' some people seem to have nowdays. I see it all over. I'm not talking about passing on photos, jokes or stuff like that. I'm talking mainly about people out and out ripping off the work of others without permission. They see something they want, they just take it. Doesn't matter if something's copyrighted or they didn't ask first, they actually think they have a right to it. Often times they'll use the excuse "well, I'm not making money off it so it isn't hurting anyone". What they fail to understand is that it doesn't matter in the slightest if THEY think it's hurting anyone or not, it's whether the copyright holder feels wronged. They'll use the excuse that 'they are just doing it for the community/or everyone' but it still doesn't matter. You could have been doing it for Mother Theresa's charities and that still doesn't make it right. Taking something without permission - no matter what your motives - is wrong. This is especially galling when people could very easily contact someone for permission first, or take the time to follow the site where they are getting this stuff's Terms of Use. Many times as long as you properly credit someone you are free to use it. All it takes is to put forth a small effort to ask...after all the person who originally designed or created what you want to use put forth a heck of a lot more effort than that!

people who make loads and loads of posts (like 4+per day) that arent mods/staff, just to get high post levels. Annoying Spammers/postwhores!

Lol like us today in the word games forum?

I hate people when i waiting in line for a roller coaster i over hear stuff like "i heard that this coaster is the tallest ever, like 1000 ft" or "Last time i went on this some fat guy flew out and they had to shut down the whole park!". It bugs the crap out of me!

^Actually, I think it's just posts in topics that count your posts, like the Discussion threads.

And phony urban legends bug the heck out of me too. Like when I'm looking on the comments on Youtube, I see a stupid post like this (Note:this has been sugarcoated for comic-value):

DON'T READ THIS POST!!! swiss cheese
If you read the post, you must post this message into three different topics, or you will be haunted by undead emos and stink at video games for the next five years!

Actually, these posts usually contain stuff about ghosts, death, and other spooky things gullibe people are always concerned about. And it's sooooooooooo irritating! Can't those rumor-starters get a life and actually contribute to the site?

When you're listening to Internet radio, now there are "pop-ups" that come in while you're listening. "Congratulations, you've won an I Pod Mini". I-Pod is now on my poop list. I'd buy anything but that. Why doesn't the pop-up blocker block this stuff?!!

Glad this topic's back! :D

Pretty much materialism alone drives me up a wall; that is, all the obsession for "the biggest gadget on the market right now" and the like. There's always some new multimedia phone, flashy car or dwarfed-ipod almost always followed by a flock of gullible consumers willing to get them NOW! The tacky hard-sell commericals are no different. Cosidering that much of the world doesn't even have food, let alone other basic necessities, it's easy with these fancy luxuries to take this first-world life for granted.

I often hear of things that make me feel the same way. This week mention was made of the guy that paid $20 million for a ride up in space. There's just something wrong there. Think of the relief that money could have brought to people. It's hard to think of children starving, while this guy's going for a joy ride in a space ship.

You know what grinds my gears? Waldo. Why is he always hiding? Is he in trouble with the Mafia? Is Chuck Norris lurking? Is he shy? Is he just being a little jerk? Is he hiding from his wife because he cheated on her? What's your problem, Waldo? Seriously. It's gettin' kinda annoying having to find you among all these look-alikes and random people doing stupid things all the time. Show yourself for once. No, the cover doesn't count.

How about those pharmaceutical ads on TV?

You know, the ones for the prescription medications that I'm supposed to go ask my doctor about but don't even say what they're for. Or they do say what they're for but it's some ridiculous disease that doesn't exist, like "Itchy Nose Syndrome" or something.

Yeah, "ask my doctor." Then I can go take 2 years of Pre-Med so I'd have some chance of understanding the answer. Should I be asking my mechanic if the new Snap-On double-tempered torque wrench is "right for my car" too? The whole idea of making random layman's suggestions to trained professionals based on TV ads that I couldn't possibly understand cheeses me off.

And then they make with the long disclaimers at the end: Side effects include nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, insomnia, osteoperosis, and mad cow disease. If you experience blurred vision, sleepwalking, incontinence, or death, stop taking immediately and see your doctor. Be sure to tell your doctor if you're taking aspirin. Do not take if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or if your mother has ever been pregnant.

That just cheeses me off on principle right there.

high post scores? That's insane!

My Peeve-

People who you let in on the road who don't say thank you. If we can't be nice to the people around us, how suprising is it that we're fighting people thousands of miles away?

Wait a second... you actually let people merge? So you're the one. Who knew?
