^That's something I previously stated. Atari could have and should have waited a bit longer when all this new technology and high perfomance video cards were around longer and were availible for a cheaper price.

^True...but there's ALWAYS new technology, higher performance video cards and price cuts right around the corner, especially with the way today's technology is deemed obsolete in a manner of months sometimes. But if Atari had waited, then invariably they'd then be faulted for not waiting until the NEXT new discovery was released. How would they ever be able to release anything at all at that pace?

What Frontier did wrong was to release a product that was not compatible with the average machine at the time the game came out...why on earth they wanted to aim towards a very small segment who had the most cutting edge machines while making everyone else buy a product that doesn't do what they promised until people upgrade in the future I'll never understand.

I must agree with you DisneyTowers. RCT is going down.
Heres my little Lifeline ;)

And so it started one day when we were looking on the web and found this game called Rollercoaster tycoon. We're all fans of rollercoasters, so we thought... hey, what the heck, lets give it a shot. After sliding that Disc in and playing the many hours on end, staying up on night end playing until your fingers fell off. Along came an expansion pack, and better and better the game gotten. Expansion pack after expansion pack.

Then game oh Glorious rct2 you can now stack scenery, Make your own Custom scenery, custom rides appeared left and right, everything that just made the game even better than before. I remember getting it for christmas one year, my parents literally had to pry me off the computer, i was so hooked to it. I loved the fact about adding new scenery of your own, making your own stalls and rides. I stayed up all night playing, oh i remember getting punished for it. Then came along the expansions for rct2. I didnt buy them because i was too interested in the normal game and i thought it cant get any better than this. I soon then after joined this site, and wow, im glad i did, the many things people said about the expansions just plainly put me in "thank god i didnt buy that". I never bought them and stuck to good ole RCT2 original, for months id sit at my computer moaning and groaning because every single park was either Wacky Worlds or Time Twisters. To be honest, i played RCT2 so much, believe it or not, i cannot anymore to this date. It wont install on any computer, it wont run, its just had its turn on me. So i lurked around these forums for a while, then i heard news about a new RCT, "could it get any better???" And so i thought.

I saw the previews for RCT3, man was i in shock, Ride your own rides! make your own firework shows! No way. Id sit here, look all over the net to see if there were to be any news, pictures or videos on it. No luck, you guys would be hammering the nail over here, you had it befor ethe net did. Finally that day came. So excited i read reviews and they all said its so sllloooow on my computer dont buy it. I was thinking, pfft they have alsow computer, im not worried, this baby will handle her. So i bought it, popped it in my CD drive and off to Ooohhs and Ahhhs i went. I found that new feature, "ride the rides" i clicked it, boy was it good to watch that. Got over the first hill and WHAM. Thats when it hit. Slowwwww. Very angered i tried all i could, i thought my computer was cluttered so i cleared everything out. defraged and everything. Ran much faster, but the game, much slower. Very quickly my interest in RCT3 ran short, until one night i was on IGN looking for some patches, and i saw RCT3 Soaked! i was mind boggeled, oh man i get to make my own pools, water showers, lasers! Oh man. :) As soon as that was added to my computer, and yet the slower it ran. But i enjoyed the many hours of awesome new features, and still to this day im still in awe over it. But my computer couldnt handle my likings. And more and more i lost interest in the game, its becoming a wreck, to play my favorite of all time game i had to have a High tech 5k computer? Yeah right. I didnt show one care about Wild! nor did i even look a tthe previews, not even an Oooh or an Ahhh. I dont even know whats on the game that would make it better for playing, to me, its just more of an excuse to cutter my machine up.

And so to this date, as i sit in this chair typing this lengthy rant out, i do not play RCT at all anymore. As i said, RCT2 doesnt even want to load anymore, i have no clue where my RCT1 landed becuase iwas so interested in the newer versions. Ive tried getting help from people here, you guys helped so much, gave every isngle thing under the book, and still RCT2 will not load an inch. It has purely gave up on providing fun and excitement. RCT3, i dont even want to get started, it was a mess to begin with, they launched it toooo early with so many bugs left on it, So many things that just dont feel like RCT to me. RCT was ment to be 2D, dont try to wreck that, yeah fireworks and the ability to ride rides was amazing, but 3D? comeon, i know its the Advanced Techincal revolution and fastly as it approaching, but launching that in the way beginning, making a million users worldwide not be able to play your game just becuase you make this soo realistic that we need the hottest graphic card o nthe net that costs what $150 - $200 dollars? Just to play agame and cure yur boredom? Yeah sure. I cant even dar ethink of playing RCT3 anymore, everytime i play i get so angered becuase it is soo buggy and so many things that are left out from the previous games just make it very saddning to think one time its a great game, while its slowly turning into a money sucking crappy game. Sure, if im really bored or stressed, ill throw the CD into the case and anger myself to pieces, but the whole concept of the game has been thrown out, FUN. the only people who have fun are those who have the right Graphics card, the ones who spend hundreds of dollars on their computer just to play a game that is getting worse and worse each day.
RCT Has died, Welcome to the Crap hole 3 dimensional version of a new Game. Rollcer Coaster Tycoon 3 (Dimensional). RCT was dead as soon as the first RCT3 was bought. Rollcer Coaster 1, its expansions 2 and their expanions, are left on our shelves gaining dust, while we go out waste, our money just to buy certain accessories to play a damn game that is meant for having fun, when really its sucking your money away, your emotions, and everything else ever imagined, just to find out that so many bugs are on it, that its not even worth playing.

So from this day on, RCT is dead, never again will it be alive, unless RCT1 and RCT2 are added onto, in their 2D versions.

Thank you for letting me rant, and i appologise for the many spelling errors, it is 2:10 in the morning.

^RCT3 wouldn't even run on my computer when I installed it. And I also didn't even give Wild! a chance.

True post, disneytowers. The only good thing Frontier has come up with is the ability to make waterparks (Soaked!). I think you should send it in as a complaint to Atari after editing it a little to (hopefully) persuade them better. I personally think they should have Sawyer help make a GOOD expansion pack for RCT2 that mainly focuses on allowing you to build waterparks and 'ride' rides. In other words, get Sawyer to help make an RCT2 expansion that incorporates the couple good things about RCT3.

Sawyer isn't in the loop - and it's not his thing anymore. Sales of RCT2 doesn't warrant another EP.

Move on...

I love RCT2 and everything this site has to offer. I however hate RCT3. Although it runs fine on my computer I just dont like the game play compared to the second one. If there isn't another one to come of the RCT series oh well. I still enjoy playing the RCT2 often, and will continue to do so. If their is another RCT game to come I hope it resembles RCT2 with updates.

I dont' know, but I thought the game got good reviews and the causal gamer liked to play it? RCT is not dead; it's still fun. They're just working on Thrillville right now I thought. Although, I've lost my RCT Wild! CD and dont' care much ;) I play RCT more than that Sims 2 game, and just looking at the reviews of the sims, I know that it's not my thing. RCT is more of my thing. So, it's not dead to me at least.

I suppose that I can HOPE for Sawyer to buy the rights back. I could also HOPE that he would just start a new roller coaster sim game series, under a new name. I could hope for a 3d version with all of the features as rct2. I could hope for a lot of things, but it doesn't look like I'll be seeing them. Eventually, someday in the future, someone will say "Hey, let's make a new Roller coaster simulation game!" and it might be as much fun, or not as much. The features and controls would have to be different to avoid copyright infringement. It would more than likely be quite expensive, and you would probably need to buy a new computer when it came out in order to play it. It seems that whether we like it or not, Atari and Frontier have succsessfully put an end to the Roller Coaster Tycoon series. I tip my hat to Chris Sawyer for his work in the first two, and bid a good day to Atari and Frontier. I will probably play Roller coaster Tycoon Two until I'm through with High Shcool, or until I get a job and just don't have time for it between school and work. Who knows, I could end up playing it for a long time. Until then, Long live loopy landscapes, and keep playing Roller Coaster tycoon two until your disc disintigrates. It's worth it.

Hi guys,

I agree in the main with what has been said on here - I rarely play RCT3 anymore and RCT/RCT2 got scratched to hell AND back so they now don't work. Kept RCT3 installed as its good to dip into now and again but doesn't have the same enthuisiasm levels as the first 2 - added complications with the VIPeeps etc.

Thrillville - my imagination OR is it an RCT3 -> PSP port basically???

DO THEY NOT LEARN - RCT is a PC game they release RCT on XBOX and it didn't work - the controls and gameplay were atrocious as with console versions of the Sims - management games are just meant to be on PCs - 8 buttons doesn't give you enough control especially as cursors are difficult to place with control pads compared to mice!

To me RCT2 is the best sim game ever. RCT was fun, but it lacked the qualities RCT2 has. I agree with just about everyone that Froniter messed up w/ RCT3. You basicially have only 5 types of scenery and you have to get this crazy video card for the damn thing to work. :!: I had spent $110 on the ATI Radeon card and that didnt even work on my computer!!! You even have to get fancy, fancy stuff for the demo. I tried putting the demo on the computer, but the message telling you to update your computer cmae up and i had just gotten the computer in 05"!!! As I had said before, they had made a wrong turn in making the 3rd version in 3-D
