Wow, you're also lucky I never noticed it!

I was just like what is she talking about? Then I went in my park and saw the path type. I remember seeing it, but it never crossed my mind what it really was. :>

I guess it never really appealed to me anyhow. :wait:

Oops, I noticed a mistake in my park tonight. I was showing my son my final park and he said, "Dad, that's a dumb name for a coaster, 'Unforbidden Territory'." :> It was supposed to be "Forbidden Territory", but I guess I had a brain cramp late that night finishing things up. Oh well.

You're right. Maybe the title to a novel or something, too?

Sometimes, I can think up a great ride name (like 'Gold Rush') and other times it just stinks :puke: ....
....especially when I had like 60+ rides to name.

Btw, how far did you get with your cell park?

The winner and runner-ups will be announced on Super Bowl Sunday, February 5, 2006.

:(

There is no way I can get this announced by tomorrow. Throw stuff at me, curse me out, do whatever you gotta do....but I don't feel I can do this contest justice by hurriedly going through the parks and making a quick decision. There are three completed entries and I have only thoroughly gone through one of them. :><: Todd entered too, but it wasn't completed. The parkmakers had 3 months and I only allowed myself 1 week?

I'm hoping to spend a good amount of time this weekend finishing up, but it may be next weekend or later before I can post results. I want to do this up right :)

I will announce the Road Rally winners tomorrow though, so there will be an announcement...

I've got no problem with that, as long as you don't take too many points off my score for this.....

I've converted my Cell park to a non-cell version. I ran it for a few years and two of my rides crashed that had never crashed in over 80 game years. I had noticed a few days before submiting that my splash boats had gotten stuck on the lift, too, without ever breaking down.

I did a 'renew' rides and 'make rides reliable' before submitting, but I think there's something else that might be affecting the crashing algorithm, like maybe the number of total riders. I noticed that number never gets reset. Does 'Reset Guest Numbers' do this? Maybe I should have done this, too? :(

Well... the "water-rides" like the Log Flume/Splash boats/River Rapids, tend to do this (without breaking down!) once in a while, or often. (getting stuck).
If they do it often, you're lucky, 'cause you will find out pretty soon and can adjust the track. The mean thing is if they just do it once in a very long while. My river rapids as well as log flume worked flawlessly for over 40 gameyears, and then all of a sudden one got stuck on the lift (after so many years I never thought of that possibilty anymore, until I accidentily stumbled on so many people crying "I want to get off of Baby Blue"), and just a year later the same with the river rapids. Very impredictable! :><:

No: "Reset Guest Numbers" does not actually reset the number of total guests/riders.
It just starts from then on giving your guests the name of being "guest1/guest2/guest3, etc..", instead of "guest 9,837/9,838", so it changes "the numbering of the guests", which definately is something else than "the number of guests" that have visited the park. Internally the game still seems to count all guests that have ever been in the park.

But I really think you don't have to worry so much about the aging of the rides.
As long as you have set your mechanics well enough to promptly repair any rides that break down, I never saw (even in park with more than 170(!) playing gameyears) any negative effects on park quality or peep-attraction from that, although the messages are absolutely annoying :wait: ......
And as far as I have seen, ride break-downs really don't seem to be affected by the total numbers of riders. Rides that are very/relatively unpoplular and because of that have few riders, tend to break down as often as the most popular ride in the park with the highest number of put-through.

Crashing of course is something else. Does have a relatively big influence, but as long as the rest of the park is ok, and the ride is repaired/adjusted, this influence is only for a short time, after that the park just fills upo to it's limit with guests again in a very short time..
But then, up till now, even with very long running parks, I never experienced a crash just from aging of the ride; only when something in the layout of the ride was not optimal. After fixing that it seemed okay.
(but no, I have not tried this out for several centuries, so.....)

From my experience playing RCT2 scenarios, some rides even when designed correctly may have certain stress points that after 10-20 years or so, will experience a crash. For instance, when you have brakes in your coaster and for twenty straight years, you get a brake failure and your mechanic fixes it, but then sometime in that 21st year.... crash!

So if 'renew rides' and 'make rides reliable' really make it like the ride was just as if I had just built it in game mode, then it shouldn't crash within the first year, especially if it had been working correctly for quite some time.

I am 99.9% sure that there is something in the 'crashing' algorithm of the game that is reading some data value in the ride structure (programming term) that is causing this crash and 8-cars is not resetting this data value when 'renew' and 'make reliable' are selected.

Yet another item to investigate.
