Jazz, this is very nice. Yes something like this does belong in the tutorial section. I would move it for you, but I'm only a mod in that folder, so I can't move it there. If nobody responds, try PMing a member of the staff (just don't bug them about it ;) )

Thanks a lot.

Pretty good. I think you could go into more detail in the foliage section, but as it is, it's a good, basic guide to parkmaking. For example, for the foliage, you generally want to have some layering of foliage when it's next to paths, such as them go according to height. For example, the most basic style of foliage would be to have a line of 1/4 tile gardens next to the path, then a line of 1/4 bushes, then some 1/4 tile trees, and then some full tile trees once you've gotten away from the path. The main idea is that you usually don't want to have all the really tall stuff right next to path. Also, the foliage should vary depending on the area. If you're putting plants in a rocky area or desert, you're usually going to want to go with a light amount of bushes, while with a forest you'd want a medium amount of trees, and a rainforest would be fairly dense. And keep in mind that not every open piece of land needs a tree on it. They're trees, not canned sardines. They like to have some space just as much as you do. And try to vary it a bit. A 3x3 block of pine trees usually doesn't look as nice as about 5 pine trees, with some shrubs thrown in.

I also disagree about the coaster segment. Regardless of elements, different types of coasters have different speeds, and various approaches on the ride. For example: Some dive machine like Oblivion is designed to go spine-tingling slow up until the drop, then it speeds up. Other rides, as well, have different pacing. I know that when riding any coaster, I like some kind of break in the speed, even just a little flat turnaround up high is nice once in a while. Varying the pacing is key to coasters, definitely not the same speed throughout. I'm sorry if I didn't explain this well, I'm absolutely exhausted.

But nice tutorial nonetheless.

^ Think you explained it clear enough Postit! And I fully agree with you (and ekimmel, who also already referenced to this). Pacing varies with the type of coaster, but in a good coaster it also varies within that one, for excitement reasons as well as for making the ride bearable, without ever going too slow (which in RCT mostly means that the builder was not skilled enough to getting it through the last inversion/turns with still a nice speed, as often happens to me :D )

Some interesting tips you've used in your RCT2 guide Jazz!. I'm sure many parkmakers will find your guide very useful!. I can't believe I missed it last year!. Unfortuantly I'm not really a parkmaker I'm more of a scenario maker but I'm sure it will not be totally useless for me. Anyway, thanks for making that and I'm sure you'll give us some more great tips again soon!. :)
