when you have the roof piece on the tile you want it, just hold the "shift" key and move the mouse up. This will change the elevation of the selected piece. Click to place it when it is where you want it.

Uhh... hello. You have to hold SHIFT as mentioned above.
Welcome, and you would have figured it out if you had looked up a few posts... Or read the manual...

Just saw that in this topic some people are replying with things like: "look at the date of the post before replying", or " read the manual".

Now, in many topics answers like these are fine, as in many topics it seems rather thoughtless to reply to anything that has not been alife for many many months. (For then you can expect the topic-holder since long has been gone or abandoned the topic.......)

As these are The Tutorials however, I think they are still meant for everyone that is more or less new to the game and wants to ask or react, no matter how long ago the last reply has been made. Making a reply in here whenever you want is fine I think, for not only it appreciates the makers of the tutorials, but new questions can also help them to make it even more clear what beginners need to know....

"look at the manuel" for sure is a good advice, and everyone should do that.
Still....the manual of the game, although absolutely made with care, in some points is not completely clear or helpful (and apart from that you cannot ask it questions if you don't understand it..... ).
So these tutorials also are meant for things that obviously need some more elaboration/help than is provided in the manual.

Hmmmm...

I have to agree with Emergo here.

Since this IS in the 'tutorial' area...it's obvious that people are here looking for solutions or advice....not to be chastised for overlooking something that many of us take for granted after hours/days/months/years of working within the game.

Remember....ALL of us started out with zero knowlege of what can be a rather intricate 'game' to master.....

They see some of the things that are created and wonder HOW it's done.

More often lately...I'm seeing rude responses to people that are simply asking "HOW".

Remember...a LOT of these people are brand new to the game....or, returning to a game that they might not have caught on to previously.

They're the "New Generation"..so to speak.

They're the ones that are going to perpetuate RCT......don't chastise 'em....HELP them!

Remember when YOU couldn't figure things out?

Think about it.
