Rather than rewrite the whole VP rules ...which isn't exactly warranted after one month of disagreement over the winning park....we have changed the rules somewhat....the changes are italicized...

The VP contest entries have dwindled since school started and we started the contest but we will still continue with this contest. If we don’t have at least 5 entries one month, we will run it the next month irregardless of how many entries we have. However, this doesn’t mean we will have a winner from those entries. The park still needs to be deemed good enough by the judges. The judging will remain the same as it is, however, in the future, when there are entries that are close (within 5 points of each other), then the judges will be asked to order those top two to three entries as winner, 1st runner-up, and 2nd runner-up. Therefore, the winner will not always be the park with the most points, but the park the judges decided to place first.

I am not positive the outcome would have been different than it was but at least when the parks are close, the judges will take a second look to rank them.

I do believe that there will be months people will not like the winner....but that doesn't mean the system doesn't work. All three parks were worthy and that is the ultimate goal....to showcase good parks.

irregardless is not a word. I think you mean either irrespective or regardless.

2 entries found for irregardless.
ir·re·gard·less    ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (r-gärdls)
adv. Nonstandard
Regardless.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Probably blend of irrespective, and regardless.]
Usage Note: Irregardless is a word that many mistakenly believe to be correct usage in formal style, when in fact it is used chiefly in nonstandard speech or casual writing. Coined in the United States in the early 20th century, it has met with a blizzard of condemnation for being an improper yoking of irrespective and regardless and for the logical absurdity of combining the negative ir- prefix and -less suffix in a single term. Although one might reasonably argue that it is no different from words with redundant affixes like debone and unravel, it has been considered a blunder for decades and will probably continue to be so.

irregardless

adv : in spite of everything; without regard to drawbacks; "he carried on regardless of the difficulties" [syn: regardless, irrespective, disregardless, no matter, disregarding]

Irregardless of whether it is a proper word or not, I am going to use it since it is in the dictionary. Boo-Yah(although this may not be in the dictionary, I found it to be a proper slang word to use in this instance) :P
