Alrighty, I'm trying to complete my RCT1 scenario recreation collection for RCT2, but I'm missing Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Heide Park. I've searched high and low for these. I've noticed that other people have asked for them on other sites, but they either get no response or people say they have them but refuse to share them. It's like taboo or something... Either way, I really like the recreations I've seen from dakinle and RCT Scenario Lover. Only downside is the objectives are different/harder than the originals, and RCTSL replaced some of the junior coasters with wild mouse coasters for some strange reason...

I also need to know if it's possible to make RCT2 portable. I'd like to be able to play it at work during breaks by playing the copied folder off of a USB stick, but it needs a registry entry to even launch the game. Registry editing is forbidden, which also means I can't just install it via a disc.

This isn't as important, but I'm using the windowed mode ddhack which works great but whenever I close the game, it hangs forever until I terminate RCT2 in Task Manager. Any fix for this? I'm on Windows 7 64bit.

Thanks in advance.

Hey crappage,

Welcome and lets answer your questions first try this site http://www.rct2objec...t.com/index.php
Second yes you can make RCT portable yes there is a way and it requires some things that illegal and thus will not talk about them here. Everything I found is the full game download and that is not allowed here. All I will say is google is your friend.
Part 3 is a good question I don't know. I would wait for someone else to answer this.

I'm afraid I don't see them, as far as an alphabetical search goes anyway.

Perhaps you can send me a PM of what you're talking about to make RCT2 portable? Google hasn't been much help, and I'm skeptical that it won't work for me anyway.

Well shoot guys, if you know how to do it, just tell me. There's no need to be a moralfag in this day and age saying it's "illegal" to do this. The game's over 10 years old, nobody cares. But just to clarify, I DO own the retail disc, I just use a no-cd crack. Unfortunately that's not enough to run it on another computer, it still needs a registry entry. While searching around, I found a program called Registry Rapper that supposedly creates a temporary registry entry for whatever program it launches. So far I haven't gotten it to work, either because of user error or RCT2 is just too damn finicky. That's why I need someone with better knowledge on how RCT2's code works to confirm whether this is possible or not, and then list how it was done. I'm sure someone out there has done this before. Speaking of which, what other large RCT communities still exist where I could ask for help?

Can't find anything to help you out here. Apparently they are not redone in RCT2. Maybe do them for us :D?

If your company policy forbids games from running, you shouldn't try to push it. There is a way that is quite easy; use a VM that's stored on a USB stick, however you still need admin priviliges to install the software (Virtualbox Portable) and you still need registry entries. Considering how you're asking here, I'm gonna make the educated guess that you are not the CEO/Big Boss around/IT admin, thus you will LIKELY NOT have any permissions for this. Basically, if IT says no, do us IT guys a favor and don't skirt around it. Thanks. You can try to ask them to install VM software, but really, just leave RCT for home. Make your life (and IT's life and your company's life) easier.

See here for an easy way. This ties back with the one on top as well. If you do not want to use that virtualization software, you can use Virtual PC, Virtualbox or VMWare Player, all 3 of which are free. However, you still need another windows license to use it (windows XP is best for this purpose). XP mode in Windows 7 (if you meet the requirements) works ... somewhat ... but I find VMWare with 3D Acceleration works better.

Hope this helps you out!

PS: Good god I've been away for a while ...

PPS: If you're looking to run RCT1 as portable, you can do this easily. There's a google search that can help you out with that (Rollercoaster Tycoon Portable). RCT2 requires registry entries to be present however.

Dang. I know I saw people mention it's floating around out there... Oh well, I guess I'll try making it myself. Might take a while though since I'm a perfectionist, or I may give up entirely if it's too difficult (might explain why no one has done it).

Hah, don't worry, I'm pretty computer savvy myself, and I've taken IT classes before. I just don't have a job in the field yet. I'm careful with what I do and I won't make IT's job any harder. Anyway, I just found a program called JauntePE which has a built-in portable registry for situations just like mine. Works like a charm and doesn't leave behind any junk. Much easier than fiddling with VM software.

Thanks for the advice though.

Well that was pretty easy... I just finished making a perfect recreation of Heide-Park. I'd upload it here but I assume no one is around with the power to approve uploads anymore.

Another question; Is it possible to use a third party tool to modify the available rides/research tree without using the scenario editor (thereby erasing all the pre-built rides)?

BTW, thanks for the inspiration! I've converted Heide Park to the best of my abilities. See my post in the RCT2 subforum for download. Hope you can complete the Blackpool recreation!EDIT: ... wow ... just ... TIMING! ... I guess I'll answer your second question. If you're asking to add data files after the fact, you need Parkdat

Holy crap dude! Hivemind... Yours looks good, but I think mine is a bit more accurate :V I'll probably upload it after I finish Blackpool (which is gonna be a nightmare).

Parkdat looks to be exactly what I need. Thanks.
