...It says that DirectX 9.0 was not found, even though I had it installed for 5 months! And I payed 6 bucks for it!

Are you using DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)? That is the minumum version to run the game. It is included on the CD with the game by the way - install that version. Many of are using DirectX 10 (Vista version) with great results. Just because it is already on your system doesn't mean you should not try the install of the version from the game.

Also - What OS, and graphics card are you using?

Post Script Also - Why on earth would you pay 6 bucks for Direct X9.0 when it is free on the CD and from Microsoft?

I meant RCT3 cost 6 bucks. And I already had DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) installed, but when I try to run the application, it says, DirectX 9.0 not found.

Alright - now I understand.

Did you install the DirectX 9 from the game CD? Are you running Vista?

Windows 2000 Professional and DirectX 9.0 installed already a few months before purchase. But when I run DxDiag, it says the DirectX files are version 5.

Then first re-install DirextX 9c either from the game CD or from Microsoft. That should take care of it. Unless your graphics card drivers do not support v9 - which if the drivers that came with the card are used (not the generic windows drivers) then it should be compatible.

When I try to re-install DirectX 9.0, it says that installation was not required because a higher or equivalent version of DirectX is already installed, so it ends up not installing.

Nah - I ran RCT3 on 2000 before I upgraded. You just can't install the video story thingie. That requires XP.
