Firstly hi,

Reading through these forums has already helped me to enjoy RCT2 more.

OK so now onto the meat of my question.

How is your Park Rating actually calculated?

There are quite a few scenarios that state "you must not let your park rating drop bellow 700 at any time". Unfortunately some of these scenarios start you of with a very low park rating of around 200 which you have to have raised by the end of the first month or two. I just don't seem to be able to get my park rating high enough that quickly, however when I have no pressure I can get my park rating to 999 without much hassle.

I am a UK user (so using pounds not dollars) with both TT and WW installed as well as the official extra scenarios rand a small amount of custom made scenery/rides downloaded from elsewhere on the web. I refuse to use cheats or trainers to complete scenarios unless they are actually bugged in some way.

the park ratio is calculated by the happiness of the peeps and the state of your attractions.
so if you keep your park clean and prevent vandalism and make sure rides are fixed quick and don't breakdown quick you can keep your parkrating up.
Theming can also help to up the satisfaction of the peeps.

Also it helps to put in stalls.

One trick I use when placing handymen and mechanics, is to pause the game and place them then. When you place them they will be suspended, but as soon as you start they will fall in place.

I have the same problem with one of the sceneios that I am playing.
Disneys Haunted House, It does not give you any time to get anything in.
As soon as I put in a ride or any stalls within the first month it tells me I Have Failed.
I as you do do not like to cheat, but on that one I may have to.
All others I have not run into any problems with , just that one.
I will still plug at it till I figure it out and then pass it on to others : Quote: It may take me awhile ,still playing it..... lolololololo

Welcome to the forums The Mad Dwarf.

The manuals I remember are quite unprecise about how park rating is actually calculated. But Peep Happiness is absolutely vital in Park Rating.

Open the peep window and group the thoughts together. Take actions to get rid of the most common unhappy thoughts first.

This way, you make sure that you prioritise corrective actions, so that the first actions you take get rid of the most unhappiness.

Also try not to drown or kill people on rides and make sure the park is crystal clean to help you aswell.

Good luck!

I am doing all that you guys suggested and i'm still having no luck.

I have NO trouble with park rating normally, it's just on the you must never let you park rating drop scenarios I have trouble.

Also an intresting note I was playing the Infernal Veiws scenario and had a couple of costers on the far side of the park wich were only accessable by train. As soon as I put in a path to connect them to the rest of the park my park-rating plummeted, despite the fact the guests were complaining it was to crowded.
I'm guessing long paths = bad, but this was about 30 tiles long and caused my park rating to drop right down to nearly 700 from the high 900's. Even adding the requeset stalls and a few more rides couldn't recover the situation quickly and it took me the best part of a year to recover my lost customers!

My solution for you is to add lots of Information Kiosks. Add as many as you can all over the place, same with bathrooms, food and drink stalls, everything. Just spoil the guests and the park rating will be off the charts. Also, make wide pathways to avoid the "It's too crowded here" complaint. Entertainers do the job well also, do 1 every hundred guests.

I always tried to landscape and building any open areas between my main park and new attractions by making sure to keep the new attractions closed until the last minute, and then do the landscaping/building FROM the established park TO the new area, making sure that the path to the new area is closed or missing a tile until everything is done and it's ready to open.

Heh keep new attractions closed? I forget to open them when I leave them to test! So they're there testing for like a year before anything happens
