This game seems much more difficult than the first. I had to get used to not being able to charge for a park entrance on some challenging levels, and then not being able to charge for my rides on some parks. Just when I think ive got the balance between how much I can charge for rides and still attract customers, or how much I can charge for my park entrance based on how many rides I have, I still am unable to make a good profit. I have to wait months just to make a few thousand dollars, say 3,000 or 4,000, to build a new ride. And I cant increase how much money I make in a small amount of time until I do. And even then I dont increase it much, sometimes not at all. And if I have to do some landscaping before I can build the ride? Forget about it. It sets me at least 2 months back, just for about 700 dollars worth of landscaping. Because I only make about 800 dollars a month, sometimes less than that. I cant understand how to make a profit. I increase the price as much as I can without ticking people off, to get more for every ride people go on, or for every time someone comes in the park, and I still dont make a profit. I lower it insanely to attract more customers to the park and rides and it doesnt work. I try to make it average to the rides in the park ratio and im still not making a profit. Whats wrong? Did they intentionally make it harder to make money in this game? if its as difficult for some people to make money as it is for me there are a lot of frustrated people. I used the only methods I could see to make in rollercoaster tycoon without ticking people off or losing money, and it worked great. I cant raise the prices because people wont come to my park, and i STILL dont make enough money anyway, even with angry people. I cant lower the price because I still dont make enough money, even if i get a lot of people in the park. Whats wrong?

Your not doing anything wrong , the ame is aot tougher than the first.
This might help you or may not : The way I play is that when I play one with : Enterance Fee , I put in $15.00 to start. Then I go into the loan department and max out my loan.
Then when I start the scenerio I do not open the park Just Yet, I start putting up Thrill And slow rides. Put Them Up QUICK!!!! . get as many as you can ,then worry about coverage and scenery later. Make sure you put in as much food, drink satlls as you can , charge no less than $2.50 for any item ( burgers, drinks, cotton candy $2.50 ) Things like chicken , chips ,subs , things like that $3.00.
Mild rides and some thrill rides start out at $2.50 ,Kiosk > Maps $2.00 > Umbrellas start at $4.50. Plush Toys ( souvinier stall ) $3.50 And So on like that.
Coasters usually start out at $2.00 ,Up them to (minimum) $3.50 ,depending on the size of the coaster double the price.
Worry About Scenery Later , When you have the time inbetween building rides. Take your time.
I have a couple of coasters here in the RCT 2 Exchange. The Spider Web , Spider Web Jr. They are MONEY MAKERS !!!. The Spider Web Is exspensive to build >>> BUT IT IS A MONEY MAKER !!! <<<<< You can charge up to $8.00 per rider. It will pay for itself many times over.
I Hope That This Will Help You To Get Started.
OOHHH ! By the way in the scenerios without enterence fee , On all rides and Food charge no less Than $2.50 Per Ride or food . Nomatter There Complantes The will still buy the food as they get hungrier.
Enjoy your game and I hope That This Will HELP YOU!! It Does Work For ME!
You can Waite Till You Have Won The Completed The Scenerio ( If you like ),Before You Add Scenery And Buildings..
Have Fun !!!!!

Welcome to the forums Courtney.

You don't say whether it's a particular scenario that you're having trouble with. I assume it's a built-in scenario?

I really don't think it's much more difficult apart from 3 factors.
  • The interest rate on loans is higher, and varies between scenarios.
  • On scenarios where guests pay a park entrance fee, it is VERY BAD IDEA to place ATMs in the park. Guests are happy, the rides are free, if they use all their money on food/drink/souvenirs you want them outta your park so they can be replaced by somebody else who pays at the gate.
  • The parks are a lot bigger. Don't be tempted to evenly spread your attractions around the map. Develop in small focused areas slowly working your way away from the entrance. On parts of the park that you haven't developed yet, stop the guests wandering off by deleting footpath tiles here and there, and/or placing 'No Entry' signs. You want them walking past the places where they will spend their cash rather than getting tired, lost, hungry/thirsty miles from the exit. This brings your park rating down quickly which has the added effect of slowing down the rate at which new guests will arrive.

Also, for this game, it is near impossible to make money and not advertise. I'd always go for usign half-entry price since it attracts a lot of guests, as well as brings a lot of money.

Hi all,
I find in Crazy Castle ( RCT2 ), 1500 guest by yaer 4 , that if you shut the park down and max out your loan. Then QUICKLY >>> Very Quickly <<< put up 2 do not enter signs right at the steps ,so that the peeps can't go ito the castle area. Then in the tree ,graasy area just in front of the castle just start building rides, stalls >>>> Don't worry about scenery as a whole <<<< ,Just put up as many rides as possible.
This scenerio is tougher than it looks believe me ...
Charge your rides as you see fit , Me no less than $2.50 , Food/Drink the same.
Once You Have done that open your park and ADVERTISE For 6 weeks then you will see a big change in your park.
If you run out of room at the enterance area slowly start putting rides inside the castle, good area for coasters ,haunted rides and the like.
That is how i did Crazy Castles, It is in the begginer scenerios ,but it is Alot tougher than you really think.
Have fun , This Is Only a Suggestion If You can find a better way let me know even I will try it ..
I Hope That This Helped With Atleast 1 Scenerio. ;) ;)

I gave up on the game scenerios a long time ago. What I do is make my own scenerio and make the initial loan a huge amount then I go and make a game from that scenerio and max out the loan. Then I save the game, and make a scenerio from that game - keeping the same game and scenerio names!! - then after making the scenerio with the money intact, I go back to the scenerio editor and erase the initial loan amount. If I have all the money I want then I save the scenerio and go back and make a game from it again - same scenerio and game names! - and voila!!! I have all the money I need to play in peace and not worry about what I spend or earn. Usually my parks are profitable and I have to close from time to time because the peeps flock to my park. I always use the number of peeps version and charge at the door. I start out with about $20 and when the park is all done I charge $60. I very rarely have a problem making money in my parks after I finish the building. I call this procedure a "scenerio flip".

If you are going to cheat for money anyways, why don't you just use a trainer?

Did somebody say "Cheat for Money"? Lay down tons of Elephant Fountains (4x4, stacked once) and lay down any 4x4 ride (Enterprise preferably). You'll get boatloads of money for it.

Yeah, but I feel like I'm cheating even more that way though. Still, you're right about it being easier.
