Fall 2006 Nutz 'n Boltz Super Project

My top-notch research crew and myself are just back from our summer holiday. Yes, three weeks slathering on sun screen and bug repellent while dodging doggie doo-doo in the sand and splashing in the same surf as toddlers with full diapers...ahhh, that THAT was relaxing! I even got sunburned in a few spots that my lab coat didn't cover.
But now we are back here at RCTspace Labs and we have an extra SPECIAL challenge for you!
You know how the first week of October everyone announces their huge Halloween contests... only most people find they either don't have enough time to finish their project before the 31st. Or they finally release the Halloween Themed winner...on Thanksgiving Day.
Not us! Nosiree, we're highly trained professionals and we're going to do things differently...we are announcing our RCTspace Nutz 'n Boltz Halloween Challenge starting now...and due on October 5th! The winners will be announced on October 25th so you'll have a full week to download and enjoy these great spooky parks...BEFORE HALLOWEEN! Two whole months to work on this! What a concept, huh?
NOW...this IS our Nutz 'n Boltz challenge, and that means you're limited to a bench of no larger than 50 X 50 tiles, but you can use any expansion pack as well as any custom scenery that's been publicly released.
You can build a mini-park, theme just one ride, or show off your construction skills with a spooky structure just as long as it is themed to Halloween. Depending on what is entered and our judges decisions, we may have multiple winners.
Be sure to include any custom music, billboard images, or fireworks along with your park file and send them to walterkrum@gmail.com by October 5th.
Post any questions you may have and remember...HAVE FUN!

sure, it can run rct3 well, but even on that one water park with all those sultan's palace objects, it slows down to a crawl...
i think i'll just stick to rct2 for now....

ugh....my comp would crash if i built a park like that...(especially with all that custom scenery)

Actually my non-observent friend, the challenge requires NO custom scenery, it's only a small 50X50 bench and you don't even need to include many rides or peeps (if any!) in your design, thus the lag level is only as big as YOU make it.
You could certainly design a fantastic entry using nothing more than some creative terraforming and a few generic scenery pieces. The secret to a Nutz 'n Boltz challenge is creativity...including the creativity to work around any lag issues. That's why we try to keep the requirements to a minimum while allowing as much freedom to use what's available as we can.
If, as you say, your computer "can run rct3 well", then you could certainly put your imagination to the test and come up with something...

Also, can you use rides made by others? (e.g. Sphere Coaster by Buggy (if it was made by him. I don't really know))

Im new to this, but I think ill try. Also, what do you mean by billboard images? Although I don't have Rct3, I'll do my best with RCT2.

RCT3 has as one of it's features the ability to add your own custom billboards. I'm so happy to hear of your interests in this challenge Canis Minor, but unfortunately this is limited to RCT3 only...
However, I am happy to say that we have several different contests going for our RCT2 players, such as the Road Rally and Vacation Parks. You also are certainly more than welcome to start a thread about your Halloween-themed park in the regular RCT2 section, I'm sure many of us would LOVE to reaad about all about it (it's fun getting in the Spooky mood needed this time of year! I've even been sneaking glances at Margerat Johnson as she walks by....shiver...now she's scarey!).
Now a little bird from the Buckeye State did whisper to me that you might want to look for some interesting news about a new challenge in RCT2 that will be announced this upcoming weekend...
