- Get Microsoft Virtual PC or any Virtual PC Program
- Install Windows 98 SE or later onto the Virtual PC or whatever you are using (Some people use Sun VirtualBox)(Reminder: You must be running XP Pro 32 Bit/64 Bit (MS VPC will NOT work on XP Home) or later to run Microsoft VPC, and Microsoft VPC 97 and earlier CANNOT run Vista or Windows 7)
- Install RCT2 onto the Virtual PC using the Mount CD option. (If you have problems installing like I did, use a CD burner program to create an ISO and mount the ISO, then mount the CD to play)
- Run RCT2 at 640x480 or 800x600 resolution (or a higher porportion to your display settings, I use 800x600). The Virtual PC will have the window resized according to your Windows desktop settings set within the "guest OS" as they call it, and you will get a message saying about dynamic resizing, ignore it.
Viola! Instant RCT2 in a window!
Note: You may have sound issues, especially if you are running a dual core, like I am, or a quad core. Best way around that is use TRG Trainer for RCT2 to turn off the sound, or disable sound emulation in the options for the virtual machine you are running. There is advice going around saying to change the affinity of the virtual program to one core using Task Manager, but it's not 100% guaranteed.
