Riven - of course it is September - the "March" in the title is a victim of a too rapid cut and paste. Fixed
Sorry...
Having seen Pinapple (Lousi!)'s entry I know I got lucky just to come in second place. Please release it here, they should get a look at it because it was really nice.
Congrats Petrol, I think you did better, altho you did not use all the space you had very well with the water and baron spots. I liked the invert, but it had a few slow spots. I think what I liked best was the market, great work on that.
Expect a very strong entry from me in the Championship just like I expect you all to give me and Petrol nice long feedback posts
Now that this leg of the rally is over - the entries can be discussed. It becomes trite to always say the the judging is close. Often though it is true. The reasons for a park to just edge out another can be a function of only a few features that are more attractive or closer to fitting in the rally location. Kumba's observation is true for the judging as well - the market area that petrol created had a certain charm that scored points. True the space utilization wasn't as consistent as it could have been, where it was tight and focused - it had a natural feel. Kumba - your park was more consistent in space and layout, there was a bit more "looseness" (I can't find a better descriptor) that didn't seem as natural. The coaster was a bit better - but it is a personal opinion. It was difficult, but petrol had just enough to edge into the lead. Now that runner-up spot was also close. Pineapple had a great grasp on the coaster front and a fine handle on the space usage. Where the extra point didn't pan out was in the buildings. Some structures were really nice, but some of the buildings had unusual levels and shapes that detracted more than enhanced the scene. While a creative technique (points there), it didn't quite hit the mark enough to bump Kumba's park out, and it may have been just a bit much as to almost seem too full.
It longer to nail down those subtle differences that were the defining elements that differentiated the parks.
Nice work all around!
