The "Coney Island" of the Pacific was undoubtably Venice, California. Many pier based parks existed along the California coast near Los Angeles, including Pacific Ocean Park, the Pickering & Lick Pier, and the world famous Venice Pier.

Here's a couple of shots of my new recreation;

The Waldorf Hotel.

Anybody want to play a round of Skee Ball?

Posted Image

The Derby Racer. I substituted a Tea Cup ride. In the background is the Noah's Ark walk through Funhouse.

This park is a companion piece to my Fraser's Million Dollar Pier from Ocean Park, California, dated 1912.

More to come...

OK, so here's a few more pics;

Posted Image

Another Hotel along Ocean Front Walk. In the mid 1920's the sidewalks were completely enclosed in order to protect people from the harsh sun and the frequent rain.

Posted Image

A closer look at the Noah's Ark walk through Funhouse. Notice the Giraffe head coming through the roof!

Posted Image

A little sneak peak of the Bobs Flying Turns!

The cars race through the last curve and back into the station;

Extra cars stand ready on the transfer track just in case they are needed;

It sure seems like a pretty popular ride!

Up next is the Giant Dipper! Stay tuned!

"Popular" indeed! I love this park because you are showing how something that is not only historic, but also entirely believable, is possible. The architecture is spot on for the period and the entire park so far has a great sense of 'fun'...great job!
