RCT SPACE 2nd ANNUAL SUPER CELL CONTEST
For those of you who remember RCT Station, this was one of their larger annual contest events. RCT Space held its first annual Super Cell Contest last year and Emergo was the winner! We will try to carry on the tradition and therefore present to you RCT SPACE 2nd ANNUAL SUPER CELL CONTEST!
Contest Rules:
You must use the 128x128 workbench provided Cell Contest Workbench
This workbench is a modified version of geewhzz workbench.
You may landscape it as you'd like and you may also change the entrance location and entrance type.
Hacking will only be allowed on buildings and paths. The coasters, for obvious reasons, must not be built using hacks.
You cannot change the rides and scenery available to you, you must carefully follow all the rules and you MUST build the park so that peeps may enter.
The park must be closed when it is sent in without peeps, but I must be able to open the park and peeps must be able to get into and around the park. (I advise all of you to test your parks before submitting your entries to make sure your park is peepable (its a very important part of this contest). You will need to use a trainer to open the park to test it and then you will need to use a trainer to rid your park of peeps and close it before sending it in.)
You can have as many areas (cells) in the park as you want (with a minimum of four), but each area (cell) must contain a coaster with a higher excitement rating than the last area (cell).
The exit of the coaster in each area (cell) must directly lead into the next area (cell).
You can and must have other rides in each area (cell), but only 1 coaster (the coaster that leads to the next cell). I DO NOT consider the dinghy slide a coaster. Each area (cell) must have 1 of the gentle, thrill, or water rides exit that will lead to the previous cell. You cannot use a transport ride for this 'other' ride. This particular ‘other’ ride exit obviously does not apply to the first area (cell). NOTE: You can have as many other rides as you want in each cell, but ONLY ONE of them needs to have the ride exit that can lead back to previous cell.
This is the other trick to the contest and it is tricky. Starting in your second area (cell), you must have the exit from a gentle, thrill, or water ride that can lead peeps back to the previous area (cell) or keep them in the area (cell). Therefore, if the peep does go back to the previous cell, there must be NO ENTRY signs at the end of that exit so that peeps from the first area cannot get into the next area (cell) without riding the coaster in that area (cell) and also to keep peeps from walking out of the area (cell) without riding the 'other' ride. (See Picture)
You are also allowed (i.e. don't have to) one path from each cell (or one cell or some cells) that could lead back ONLY to the first cell where the park entrance/exit is, basically for peeps that want to leave the park, however, the same thing would still apply....a no entry sign would need to be on the path in that first cell, so the peeps wont try to get to other cells. This may seem necessary for all those peeps crying they want to go home, but again, this should be a strategic decision as to where you do this, OR IF you do this, you certainly do not have to for the contest. If you do decide this is necessary, just make sure peeps don't get to places they shouldn't....
POINT is...peeps cannot advance to the next cell without riding the coaster in that cell.
Transport rides, if used, must empty into the area (cell) that the ride is built in. You can have a transport ride go through other areas (cells) but the ride exit must exit into the area (cell) that the entrance is in.
The idea then is that peeps will choose to ride a coaster in the first area (cell), exit into the next area, ride the coaster in that area (cell), exit into the next area...and so on, until they have arrived back at the park entrance/exit. The tricky part is that if peeps ride the ‘other’ ride starting in the second area (cell), they might get dumped back into the last area (cell) they were just in. Then, those peeps will have to ride the coaster again to advance into the next cell.
This contest is strategic in its planning and its execution. You won't want to make the first coaster too exciting that peeps won't ride it, but exciting enough that they will. Your pathing and location of rides is important. You also must remember to keep those peeps interested and happy throughout the park and not allow them to wander aimlessly looking for the exit.
This contest is creative also. You can theme the park all the same, or theme different areas (cells) of the park. It's your choice! You can get creative with the landscaping: put fences around your areas (cells) to mark them off or make islands to separate the areas (cells). The cells DO NOT need to be the same size or shape.
Judging:
The basic rules of the contest must be followed. There were two other parks entered last year that were disqualified, simply because the basic rules were not followed. One park did not have their pathing correct, so peeps were able to get to their second cell without riding the first coaster, and the other park had two coasters in one cell. Although the coaster wasn't working, the rules clearly state ONE COASTER per cell. So, just be careful with the rules. Ask Questions! I'll check in every day to answer them!
The peeps must be able to traverse your entire park.
The layout of the coasters will be important.
Other rides in each area will be important.
Theming will play a part.
Keeping those peeps happy and moving along will play a big factor.
Timeline:
Since this is a big contest and will obviously take a bit of planning before building, we are allowing FOUR months to enter!
We will accept group parks for this contest also!
You can use a trainer to spruce up your park and renew rides and make them reliable. You just cannot use a trainer to HACK the coasters.
All parks will be due to rctspacecontests@gmail.com by
Please include your forum name(s) in the email and the subject of your email should say CELL CONTEST.
The winner and runner-ups will be announced in September.
I know you will have questions, so please ask away here!
