Well, after working with it for hours and trying all sorts of combinations, I followed some of the posted suggestions. Thank you all, for your ideas. I got RCT 2 and 8 Cars to work, somewhat. Here's what finally worked: First, I disabled the UAC (User Account Control). Then I set RCT to run in Compatibility mode for XP SP2. (8 Cars would not work at all in that compatibility mode, so I changed it back to Vista). Last of all, even though in Vista I was able to use a mouse click to toggle between RCT and 8 Cars, it would not work. So I used only the Shift/Tab keys. As short press of the keys did not work. I had to hold those keys down until the RCT screen reappeared. Finally, the changes I made in 8 Cars took effect in RCT. Mostly I like to add cash, reset the date, and Own all Land. But all of the options were working. Hooray! It doesn't seem like a very stable way to work it, but unless someone has any other suggestions, I'll use it that way for now. The suggestion that somebody had for installing XP onto my new computer sounds interesting. I'll look into that. I am still using Compatibility Wizard to run games as old as Windows 98. Thank you everyone for your help. This grandma coaster fanatic tries her best to keep going forward with all the new technology. BTW, so far the Video Chip Set is working okay with both RCT 2 and RCT 3, so I'll leave it for now. Later, I may transfer the Radeon 9250 Graphics card from the old computer to the new. Did you all hear the sad news that our local amusement park, Geauga Lake, has closed forever? They didn't even give us any notice, so we could go for one last nostalgia ride. I am so sad. I grew up riding those coasters. The coasters are all for sale, but no price is mentioned. The price includes reassembling it for the buyer. The oldest wooden coaster, The Big Dipper, covers about 8 acres. (sigh) So I guess I won't be buying it! LOL!Bye.What you have is a video CHIP - not a video CARD, and is not compatable with all games (for instance chipsets are not recommended for RCT3 at all). While it should play RCT2 fine, other newer games may be a problem. Since it's an HP you should be able to install your own video card (note that it will be cheaper if you do not do so through HP - even paying someplace like Best Buy to install it for you will probably cost less). Everything else on your computer looks great.I think in your case it's more a problem of getting rct2 and the trainer to work under Vista, not everything does and there's no plan's to release any updates to make it compatable that I'm aware of. You might try changing your machine to XP compatible mode when playing rct2 and see if that helps.
