Park TEN put a nice little twist on Christmas, showing us what a tropical holiday might look like. I liked the tiki torches on the beach, the coaster's custom supports (including the underwater concrete pads) and the architecture of the coaster building, but I don't understand why the builder hacked in a section of bobsled track half-way through the ride, it seems out of place here. Also there was no access to the coaster for either the peeps or maintenance - in fact the peeps did not appear to be a consideration when designing this "park"; good, compact coaster design though.

Park #10.......I liked the theme of this ENTRY.....like Or said, a nice twist on the holidays.....the architecture was REALLY well done, the coaster supports and the design of the ride iteslf were exceptional. Again, fitting a well designed ride into such a small space is quite a feat in itself but, one could hardly call this a "park". I also thought that the ice/snow theming (and hacked bobsled) in the middle of a tropical island seemed a little out of place.

My first perception of this was that it would be a very nice themed RIDE located somewhere within a larger park........until I noticed that there wasn't even a path leading past the main entrance and that, in fact, there were actually no PATHS at all! The only "paths" anywhere in it were merely used to be able to place a mechanic (who, I hope is not claustrophobic  ) to repair the ride if it breaks down and two places where the "paths" were used only to place benches on. I think that if the designer had simply run a pathway underground past the ride and made it accessible to peeps, (and possibly added at least a few shops or stalls) that it would have made this entry one of my favorites. As it is.......with guests being able to do nothing but stand outside the entrance and watch the ride.........well...........again, I REALLY liked the theme and the architecture.

Park TEN - Mele Kalikimaka

I knew by the title that the park would be different.... :)
I think this is the fun aspect of this contest because we do get to see everyone's version of the holidays and this entry obviously had the tropical holiday theme. I don't think the park was meant for visitors, even the coaster seemed to be a statement (sculpture) of sorts. I think the parkmaker did a good job fitting that coaster on the map and the landscaping was good.

Park Seven was quite nice. I didn't like that one shrub that was green or the castle piece, but the rest was quite pleasant.

Entry Eight established the theme and color scheme well. The architecture wasn't bad either.

Park Nine was great too. Although more archy would have been nice, the coasters were interesting.

Finally, Park Ten. I enjoyed this too. It was very... interesting. In a good way. A different perspective on the holidays is always enjoyable. The layout was not bad either.

Good work guys!

The tropical theme to Ten was nice, but why was there the snow bit in the middle of the island, surely it would have melted? The layout isn't too bad on the rollercoaster, I'd prefer a peep friendly model however.

OK.......I'm starting to wonder here if I'm maybe being too critical with these parks  . I'm certainly not trying to denegrate ANYONE'S work whatsoever. I would hope that everyone will be just as specific with their critiques of MY park......so I'll know what I did right and what I can do to improve my parkmaking.

I own and operate a home remodeling business so, by nature...........I HAVE to be very detail oriented and critical.....or my clients don't get what they're paying for. I'm just noticing that most everyone else is being rather polite, not really pointing out percieved "flaws" and keeping their comments shorter and maybe more "to the point" than myself. I imagine that part of this is due to the fact that I've never done this before and have only commented elsewhere on "parks in progress"......where the posts are basically asking for critiques.

I assure you that any "criticism" is purely intended to be constructive....and only MY opinion ;) .

Unfortunately, since I've been rather poignant in my views of the entries to date........I'm going to have to stay the course until this is over.........otherwise, I feel that it would be unfair to those that I've already commented on.

I sincerely hope that I haven't offended anyone and that no one holds anything against me if they think that I have been too critical here. It's just something I naturally do...........

I don't think you've offended anyone at all K0NG. I find your comments are detailed and very fair, and as such are very helpful to every parkmaker. Don't stop what you are doing.

Yes, this was meant more as a fun contest for the holidays, and as such many people make their judgements on different standards than they might for other contests, but each person needs to set their own standards I think. Personally for myself I look at these as "Christmas Cards" of a sort, and I base my opinions mostly on how they look and the strength of the message they convey, my picks will be those parks that fit the theme of "Happy Holidays" and reflect the fun the creator had in building it.

Granted, there are so many really nice parks already that I think that the attention to details may be the deciding factor in the end, and details can certainly include things like proper paths and ride stats. But I also remember that this contest wasn't based on just those things and the requirements were very open. This is first and foremost a fun event, and I hope everyone agrees that so far it has been!

I also don't think you have been harsh K0ng...I've probably been a tad nicer than normal only because I think its hard for the parkmakers to read the comments and KNOW that they cannot respond in any way :P

Anyhoo...Park ELEVEN is now up for download in the first post....enjoy!

Hmmmmm........this is either karma, irony or Becky deliberately testing my mettle.........

Park #11.......OK, the ice castles were placed symmetrically.....there was a lot of blue in the park and, uhhh.........ummmmmm...........there were a lot of words that I didn't understand. Honestly....there's nothing else I can say about this park.
(well, there IS............but, after my semi-apologetic rant last night.........I'll just leave it at that). :saint:
