VP is still in its infancy, so it would seem to me to be a good time to iron out any problems with the judging and try to evolve this thing so it can be the best it can be.

People are looking for a park with the best theming. Sure, the best overall fixins, but Theming wins over the majority. But you didn't agree with me when I first said it, so I doubt you will now.

Whoa. What's worth more than themeing? That should be one of the top two or so guides...I still think Theming shold be worth more, just like I did from the beginning.

I still say that this is too early to scream it doesn't work. I personally don't think any of the parks were "VP" material...so hence the practically 3-way tie. No offense to anyone here.
The panel of five judges are supposed to represent the majority...will they always? Maybe not, I guess they didn't here...but do our state representatives always do what the majority of the voters want? I mean...

You say I over-reacted....I only over-reacted after someone else did.
I just hope this doesn't turn everyone off to VP and I hope I can still round up judges....

If you have specific recommendations to change the judging structure...would you please post them here or pm me....I will certainly listen to what you have to say. Keep in mind...there just will never be a perfect system...
You are right gymkid...iris is usually spot-on for his picks...but I dont think we can say he is always right...there is no perfect system.

Some of Iris' picks didn't ring my chimes. Maybe after a few dozen VP picks the consistency may be more in line with the member base. Don't know - too early to tell...
But for those who understand statistics - two data points don't yield a trend...

I do take offence to that statement. Lets refer to the rules(and I quote)I personally don't think any of the parks were "VP" material...so hence the practically 3-way tie. No offense to anyone here.
"5. There must be a minimum of five (5) parks to have a winner for that month. The judges will always have a right to not announce a winner for the month if there is not a park worthy of VP of the month."
If there was no park worthy of VP, then why was there a winner and two runners-up. Maybe you should read your own rules before you start running your JIB.

Besides, you all will be happy next month when Meretrix wins...

Kai didn't over-react. He stated his opinion. You threw a fit because he doesn't like the way it's being run. Don't try knocking him down because his opinion doesn't glorify the competition. If Meterix's park is submitted for next round, that will give you another month of time to torque the system around until it gets fixed. VP will not prosper the way it going right now. It sounded ok at the time, but things do need to be changed, just as anything good.
"The customers don't conform around you; you conform around the customers."
And AP, if there isn't a park that isn't "good enough", then it should be your job to step in and go "whoa, we need to rethink this".

I guess I over-reacted to this whole thing...because of the position I was in...we won didn't we?...and I didn't think we would...I think I even told you I was just hoping for a runnerup....
The whole 'process' was discussed at length in the forums with member feedback and then it was also discussed with then owner...Boomer. Boomer wanted as much member participation as we could get...but also if I recall...the members also wanted rotating judges...
Its a quagmire...I must admit...a set panel of judges would be SO much simpler than how it is now and definitely more consistent in the judging. It is something I will throw around up in the staff forum.
What started out as such a nice feature has certainly gone down the toilet this month. I really do apologize to all those involved..members and staff alike....and you too Roger, Kai, ja227...although I'm not sure if it would have been "right" of me to step in and cancel winners and runners-up. I'm not sure if I was a judge what I would have done...
Anyway...I am taking suggestions seriously...so please feel free to leave your thoughts here...this topic has now turned into a suggestion box... :">
