Then you are lucky. I remember when I made the switch to XP from 98. There was a few issues in the switch. Also to the guy who was having trouble with not waiting to lose some work on an unfinished park before making the switch. Save the work and then burn all the RCT2 park and track files to a dvd. All you have to do is reload everything once you make the swtich.

Are either of your Vista installations original factory, upgrades from a previous OS, or a new installation you did on a new (blank) machine?

I have a laptop running Windows VISTA and have experienced no problems running RCT2, even on the road in my truck.

new on my lap top

took me some time to configure it right.
think the things which are causing the most troubles are the UAC (User Account Controll) which makes trainers dont work good (I think). and the visual themes of vista dont work with rct2.
so if you want to run rct2 good you need to disable UAC and run rct2 in compatility mode (XP SP2) and disable the visual themes.

Hello, I just bought a new HP computer with Vista. I am trying to play RCT 2 Triple Thrill Pack, with 8 Cars Per Trainer. Unfortunately, the trainer stops responding, and then I am unable to toggle back into RCT. I save often, but it is annoying to have to reload the game every 10 minutes. Here is the information about my computer. Are there any RCT 2 updates or trainer updates that would help?

The computer was advertised as having a video card good for all gaming.
I don't know if this information is what is needed to determine my problem. Have I made a mistake in buying this computer? My old computer has a Radeon 9250 graphics card that I bought specifically for games. Is the graphics card at least as good on the new computer? I copied all this information, but don't understand it. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Excuse the previous posts from me that just said hello. The computer froze up, and it posted my message as I was beginning to write.

What you have is a video CHIP - not a video CARD, and is not compatable with all games (for instance chipsets are not recommended for RCT3 at all). While it should play RCT2 fine, other newer games may be a problem. Since it's an HP you should be able to install your own video card (note that it will be cheaper if you do not do so through HP - even paying someplace like Best Buy to install it for you will probably cost less). Everything else on your computer looks great.

I think in your case it's more a problem of getting rct2 and the trainer to work under Vista, not everything does and there's no plan's to release any updates to make it compatable that I'm aware of. You might try changing your machine to XP compatible mode when playing rct2 and see if that helps.

the problem in this case isn't vista

tripple thrill pack shouldn't be compatible with the 8cars
