I need to clarify one more thing; I asked a few questions on a post I made on Nov 7 2005, 03:02 PM and one of them was never explicitly answered:

Does the term 'flat' ride also include 'transportation' rides? If transportation rides are included as a 'special' ride, then if I build say a 'monorail' with two stations, do both exits have to lead back or just one? Can I have a gentle 'car' ride (non-flat) as a 'special' ride?

Can someone please clarify this?

Thanks :)

If you are using a transport ride as your 1 "special" ride, every station exit must lead back to the previous cell.

If the transport ride isn't the 1 "special" ride, it can have as many exits as you'd like, but every exit must stay within the current cell.

Todd is right, basically each cell is a mini-park.

To distinguish (or separate) each cell, you can use either or all of the following methods:

1) Different colored landscape.
2) Walls.
3) Fences.
4) Any other scenery.
5) Change in land contour.
6) Lake or river.
7) Whatever, as long as it looks separate from another cell.

In each cell, you can have:

1) Zero or more 'regular' flat rides.

2) Zero or more food booths.

3) Zero or more park staff.

4) Zero or more scenery.

5) ONE AND ONLY ONE COASTER whose excitement rating is greater than the previous cell AND whose exit leads directly (i.e. no intersecting paths*) to the next cell.  Once in that next cell, you're basically in a 'new' park so to speak.

6) One or more 'special' flat rides whose exit has two choices for the peep to make: one path that leads him/her back to the previous cell and one path that leads him/her back to other paths in the current cell (see Todd's and my previous posts for more details to this rule).  Also see that marvelous screenshot that Becky made.

7) Zero or one "I want to go home, mommy' paths that lead from the current cell directly back to the first cell with a 'no entry' sign where this special path enters the first cell to prevent peeps in the first cell from cheating the system.

8) Rides (coasters and transports) can extend into another cell from their 'home' cell as long as all of their entrances and exits exist only in the 'home' cell.  Meaning I can build a coaster that starts in cell 4 and goes into cell 5, but ends back in cell 4.

9) The layout of all rides within your cell is your choice as long as it follows these rules.  The coaster could be the first ride that a peep encounters or the last.

Todd, Becky did I miss anything?

* - No intersecting paths for peeps to cross; staff members is a different story... I hope!

This sums it up great!

I'm glad you clarified this for me! :wait: Now I have to re-think my strategy. :P

You might want to put this rule and some of what I stated in my Nov 8 2005, 06:39 PM post in the official "Contest Rules" on page 1 for any newcomers. ;)

Todd, Can you clarify this for me, too? :ermm:

I hope that I can have a staff member from the current cell walk (via an intersecting path) onto the 'special' path (the path that leads from the exit of the coaster of the current cell to the next cell) as long as I have a 'no entry' sign to prevent peeps from using this intersecting path.

Comprendo? :wait:

Staff members have nothing to do with the contest rules.. They can go where ever they want, or wherever you assign them.

Yet another question.....

Can I have food booths, info booths, and restrooms along the 'special' paths ('coaster exit to next cell' path and 'flat ride exit to previous cell' path)? :ermm:

I don't see why not, but Becky may want to answer that one.

The path from the exit of the coaster in cell 1 will lead into cell 2.  From there, you basically build a mini park.

Actually, the whole park is a mini park. You can and should have 'other' rides in that first cell. The exits of any rides in the first cell deposit peeps into the first cell, with the exception of the coaster of course.

The other thing you need is a path leading out of each cell that will allow the peeps to get to the exit of the park.  Don't forget the no-entry signs on these paths, we don't want the peeps skipping ahead and going to cells without riding coasters.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The path leading out of each cell to entrance is OPTIONAL.

this might be true in the sense you need it but if you build it you run the risk of them going back to the beginning for no reason once they hit that path they have no choice, and then you have just defeated yourself.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yes, from my first post:

You are also allowed (i.e. don't have to) one path from each cell (or one cell or some cells) that could lead back only to the first cell where the park entrance/exit is, basically for peeps that wanted to leave the park, same thing would still apply a no entry sign would need to be on the path so the peeps wont try to get to other cells.

It's part of the strategy of the contest to figure out on your own...whether you need any of these paths, only one for the whole park, or a couple, or...whatever. When I did this contest, I didn't construct any of these paths, until after I tested it with peeps. I decided to only have 1 of these paths about halfway through the park....but again, its part of the strategy of this contest...whatever works for you and your peeps :)
