I feel excluded...
Well, this'll be me in a few years, reminiscing...

^ Nonsense Trainman, why should you feel "excluded" because of things that were "before your time"? So why should you even make just a remark about it????

(Do I feel here that you are just making an answer in every topic to boost up your post count????)

Now, let the people from the first days get back to their interesting stories.......

Holy COW! I've been told that I make long posts before. But I can't hold a candle to dakinle. Great reads there.

Last I knew, the topic was about what the oldsters are doing. Well, I've had my claws in a number of projects. Many of them have failed. But I learned hard lessons. I have also seen a bit behind the scenes, and I've taken a good hard look at how forums are set up, and how they might eventually die. (Yeah, there's no really sweet way to put that.)

While I have been playing RCT One since it first hit the shelves, (I probably am the owner of one of the original USA version disks,) I have gone through all three games and their add on packs, as well as listened to everyone's opinions of various subjects concerning their techniques, and opinions. I have to say...

You're all wrong!
JK!
:phew:

Within the last few weeks, I've had a bit of a revalation. Not to be in competition with the already active forums, but hopefully, a way to unite the community in a new exciting presence in the RCT Community. That'll help bring us closer together in many many ways. It's a new creation in the way a forum is put together. A new series of clubs, forums and an assortment of new ideas and features, that, (I hope) brings this community closer and hopefully our newest members wiser to the ways of the "G-Force". It's something like a hub, that has a series of my own boards connected to it. I plan to create something that Disney did with his parks way back in 1956. A ring of lands, surrounding a central hub.

Each of the boards will specialize a specific feature that forums usually have. It will also feature dedicated forum boards specifically for the other forums in the community. A "reprasentative" forum for the forums that exist today. (Think of "The World" side of Epcot. Having a slice of different countries in one area.) Where you can make jumps from the hub to (hopefully) all the other forums, fan sites and amusement park and attractions throughout the internet community. Provide updates by the most promenant people OF their home forums, ABOUT their home forums.

These "Forum forums", will even have their own private clubs set up, so that members of the home forum, can simply sign up to become part of the Interforum Cometitions, which can be held here. (something I have been jonesing to get started.) Forums don't have to form a private club, it'll be done for them, off their main board, on an "annex" board, specifically for their forum's competition team. Administrated by a home forum member of their choice. That's right, I'm asking other forums to move into something of a "townhouse". Complete with a private club and the ability to make it what they will. Complete control.

Imagine being able to go to an Interforum Competitions Coliseum and see how a favorite forum team has done in a recent vote playoff? (I can't find a host for them, so I'll be making one.)

A big plan indeed, but the effort will be well worth it, if it brings everyone together in a massive network of interforum relations and friendship. It's time we break down some of those walls we may have made in the past, and really start sharing. It'll be more than a Web Ring, It'll be called "RCT Matrix Forum". And I have already started with five Feature Forum Boards already. But I couldn't wait to spring it upon everyone. I had to let you know.

Finally, we'll all be connected, sharing, gaming and having fun the way RCTers do. Talk about a reunion, it's a freakin' REVIVAL!

Best of luck, but I sadly have my doubts that it'll work. The numbers don't seem to be there. Could a revival happen someday? Sure, but it has to be built back up slowly in my opinion. Interest cannot be created overnight. Part of the reason people don't play is just that the generation that was the bulk of the community is transitioning into adulthood and trying to situate their lives.

heeeey, someone mentioned cavs depot and isarct! =D

I actually had a site in the same topsites pages as those 2. I wonder if anyone would remember it... had a picture of a blue and a green B&M, with a coliseum scenery piece (this was the background or entry image, I think).

Awesome topic, great learning about the history I missed.

One point people keep making that I cant identify with is this concept that the majority of RCT players played whilst in high school and once they reached college, stopped. I'm not saying it isnt true, Im just mentioning that its not my story. I didn't start playing RCT1 until my junior year of college (2000) and have had few breaks since then, despite all life throws at me :D If you want to do something, you make time.

Maybe so, but keep in mind that you started whilst you were in college.

You didn't have to prepare and then go through one of the biggest transitions in life when you found the game. Now the transition is less for some than others. For me, it was huge. I've lived in Southern California my entire life and then packed my bags for Portland, Oregon. That's a big change with no one around that I've ever known.

So yes, transitions are different based on circumstances, but they happen all the same.
