Climb The Ladder

First of all, there cannot be a NO THANKS at all. Because if there is, then ultimately someone else would then have to be out of a contest that month, assuming there is an even amount of contestants. In fact, he also told me that ideally we NEED to have an even amount of contestants or there will be one person left out each month HOWEVER, I explained to him that we are allowing people to sign up and get on the ladder in later months, so I cannot make sure there is an even amount of contestants every month. So, that is then part of the 'challenge'...if you don't state your challenge early once I open the challenge topic, you might not get in a contest at all! And this might hurt you too, because your place on the ladder depends on your win/loss record. For those people who just cannot get an entry in one month once you are challenged, you will just forfeit your ladder spot that month...thats the way the ladder goes. However, you don't have to challenge anyone if you don't want to one month...however, it will obviously affect your win/loss record. You won't have a win or a loss, but your win/loss record will be lower than others.
SECONDLY, and this was the biggie
You can ONLY challenge someone within 3 rungs above you....not just anyone above you. But the movement on the ladder is what I have wrong. We have to use a point system, a win-loss record, after the first match, with seeding as secondary. You cannot just move up one rung and the loser go down one rung when you are challenging people more than a rung above you...try working it out, I did, and I felt like the idiot that I am
SO...I will edit in the new rule changes in the first post, but I wanted to CLARIFY what changed, in case any of you decide to get out...The changes are kind of a mixed bag, and actually, I think it makes a lot more sense now. The only thing that might hold someone back would be the lack of NO THANKS, but do keep in mind that this only runs FEBRUARY, APRIL, JUNE, AUGUST, and OCTOBER...and the worst that could happen is you move down a few rungs.
The goal of this tournament is to be on top. You want to win your matches. The one with the best win-loss record will be on top and if there are ties, it will be based on where you were seeded to begin with.

I also don't think that everyone will be competing every month, regardless of whether you have an even or odd number of contestants. Time constraints for some will not allow them to be able to compete. Plus, some of the challenges could take some time to complete, so they may not be able to have a competition every period.
I like the idea that you've limited it to one challenge per period, but there may be some contestants that would like to try two or three challenges, provided they're not larger types of challenges (parks) versus smaller challenges (unthemed tracks). I think that you should give the contestants the option of making or accepting two or three challenges each time. A refusal on multiple challenges wouldn't count against them.

Actually, I kind of like the idea of NO THANKS being available to the contestants. I can see where it would come in handy on occasion for some of the contestants.
In reality, its still there...you have to accept the challenge but if you don't get an entry in, you don't get an entry in...you just forfeit and your win/loss record will show that...but it is your choice, and obviously this will happen to people over the course of this year....kind of a given. But the reason why we can't allow a person being challenged a NO THANKS, is because IF we would have an even amount of contestants, one person saying NO THANKS would also in turn lower the odd guy out win/loss record which he would have no control over, and that wouldn't be fair either.

Since this contest is based on Win/Loss record, this would be unfair to those people who couldn't possibly ever do more than one challenge a month....
