Just for the record... Nobody said ANYTHING about you being a girl. You're gender doesn't matter to me one bit. Seriously, I don't bother to research members to find out if their male or female before I reply. I treat everyone equally. It doesn't even factor into the problem. And frankly, by bringing up the fact that you are female, denotes that you think I was taking gender under consideration, before I replied to your post. And that is sooooo wrong. It's like being accused of being bias, or harrassment. Nothing can be further from the truth. So you can take your little Powerplay "I'm Hated, Because I'm a Girl" Card, and delete it. Because nobody's gonna want to play with you again, if you keep that up. So rope it in. That's all I have to say about it.

Delving into the programming is always chancy for the inexperienced. We'll figure this out, alright? Don't blow your top over this. There's a way to correct all of the problem here.

*NOTE*If you chose a CSS file that is part of the carousel mix, (Files css4 through css17,) then you'll have to listen to the carousel music and wait to see if your song will play. That MAY be the problem that you're experiencing. Because you haven't told me which song you replaced. So this is about the only thing left that I can think of. Check the song list provided above in post #8 and try to remember which css file you swapped out.

Outside of that... Let's go into Troubleshoot Mode:

If nothing shows up in the music menu? That tells me that...

A. The file didn't end up in the proper folder. It goes in the DATA folder. Not the Objdata folder. (This bears repeating, because the habit is, to place everything in the Objdata folder.)

If the file is in the correct folder, and it still does not show up in the music menu... B. The file is named incorrectly. It's either "custom1" or "custom2". (No caps, no spaces.) Try renaming the file.

In the case of css files, DON'T type the music name. Just type "cssXX, (the XX would be representative OF the number following the "css" of the file that you wish to replace.) Also... no caps, or spaces or dashes. For example if you chose to replace file css20, name the file "css20". Not "css20-Martian Style". The only reason I included the name of the song, was that you would know what file you would be replacing.

A trick to use here is to put a "-" in the original css file name, between "css" and the number. So the file would be overlooked by the game program, yet nothing was actually "removed" from the folder. Any file with the "-" in the name, would be a tip off of which files were modified and make it easier to retrieve the altered files in the future.

To continue...
If it shows up in the music menu, but you don't hear anything, and the volume control(s) are up, then... C. the music file was converted to the wrong settings.

To retrieve your deleted css file, is to go to your recycle bin on your desktop, and retrieve the css file from there. And replace the css file that is not working for you. If you have emptied the recycle bin since the time of the file deletion, (and unless you know which css file was removed,) about all you can do is see if you can open the disk drive and replace the music data files entirely.

Click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop.

Right click on the disk drive that has the RCT 2 disk in it.

Select OPEN.

Click on the folder marked "Data".

Highlight all of the css files. (BTW: that's EVERYTHING in the folder.)

Then right click on one of the highlighted files.

Select "Copy".

Close the drive window.

Open the RCT 2 folder.

Open the Data folder.

Right click in an empty space within the folder's display window.

Select "Paste". (this will place copies of the css files in the Data folder.)

Chances are a new window will pop up. You will want to replace all the css files. So select "Yes to all".

Also notice that there is a document in the data folder. called "Custom". You should read it's contents. But I went ahead and copy/pasted it here for you...
BTW: The files should already be named .WAV files, IF the audio file was converted properly. BTW: Changing the file's extention, (after the ".") will not convert it into a WAV file.

UNSUPPORTED FEATURES IN ROLLERCOASTER TYCOON V2.01.xxx
------------------------------------------------------

Custom ride music
-----------------
Additional ride music may be added as follows:
1. Convert the new music file into a .WAV file, PCM format, 22,050Hz,
16bit, Stereo.
2. Move the file into the 'Data' subfolder in the RollerCoaster Tycoon 2
installed folder, and rename it to either CUSTOM1.WAV or CUSTOM2.WAV
3. Run the game as normal. The additional music file should be recognized
by the game, and will appear in music selection menus as "Custom Music 1"
or "Custom Music 2".

Note
----
This feature is unsupported by Infogrames.
It should work, but if you experience problems then you're on your own!

=======================================================

Like I said. This is chancy. If you're not confident in your abilities,
it's probably best to either have someone else help you with it,
or convert & rename the file for you, or not do it at all.

There is a lot of audio programs HERE.
You're bound to find one that'll work for you.

From what I understand,
ALL of the uploaded files at FileHippo are garanteed not to carry
spyware, worms, trojans, viruses or otherwise corrupt.

And they have a lot of other, useful programs. as well.

Not sure. I don't use Sound Recorder. I use Audacity. It's free and awesome.
