I dont see many Virginia Reels in RCT...

Which is too bad, as they are a nice addition in the appropriate area. I have one nearing completion in my park. It is not like citytrader's - he is a master at the theme.

Thanks Sambo! I'm looking forward to seeing your Virginia Reel. Here's a closer view. Still a few bits to finish up;
In keeping with the old-time ride atmosphere, here's Steve Franks wonderful recreation of the Auto Race adapted into Disney's America;
And here is one of the many food booths located throughout the area, with the Auto Scooter in the background;
Here's another fairground classic, The Whip!
I set the cycle to 12, and after the loading phase, the tubs whip around the track for over a minute. It's not a perfect whip, but it works pretty well!
More to come...

The Virginia Reel looks like Steve Franks' "Over The Top! @ Pickering Pier" recreation!
I thought I had mentioned that. Yes the track design is the over the top, but it was completely reprofiled, designed and sceniced by me.
This looks great! My only thing is it doesnt seem very Disney-esque.
But its still fab work.
As envisioned by Michael Eisner, Disney's America was going to be a new and unique direction for a theme park. Guests would be immersed in the Civil War, arrive at Ellis Island like their forebears, ride on a barge on the Erie Canal, walk the streets of Colonial America. There would be rides, of course, the coaster in Enterprise comes to mind, but the park itself would be the ride, if you follow what I mean. Think of Williamsburg or Jamestown on steroids.
I'm sure Eisner's plans would have changed dramatically if DA had actually been built, but it wasn't. Did you know that most of DCA is merely a reworking of DA? Condor Flats was Victory Field, Grizzly Run was the Lewis and Clark ride, the boardwalk was State Fair. The number one complaint of guests when DCA opened? No characters. No sily tie-ins to lame Disney features.
Disney as a company, dating all the way back to Walt, has tried to change this image, but the public won't let them!!! Walt's original plan for EPCOT? A town where people work and live. Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow. What is it now? Lame Little Nemo under the Sea and Stitch in space being annoying. Walt must be turning over in his grave!
Now, with my recreation of DA, I have tried very hard to stick to the original concept art and plans I have been able to find. I have had to make many allowances and have certainly added more things than any plan held, but I have tried very hard to stick to the spirit of those original plans. I am also working with RCT3, and I have to bow to the limits and availability of CS and especially ride selection (see below) within the game.
I have also made a decision to include some character theming within the park, which I tried to avoid, but the public here and at other sites has constantly said I need characters, so they will be added to give the park that "Disney Flair". Whatever that is.
Here is some original concept art from Disney's imagineers of the State Fair area;
As you can see, pretty bare bones and simple.
Anyway, here's a new shot of the grand carousel (I wish, I wish, I wish Atari had actually included one!!!)
The Tea Cups make a poor substitute! And makes my point about ride substitution.
DA itself is rather large, and I have split the park into four or possibly five seperate benches. They all will border on Lake America, except Victory Field. The areas are;
Enterprise, the industrial revolution area, releasing very soon
Native America, with the Lewis and Clark raft ride. already completed, but lost in my hard drive crash, so it will be redone.
State Fair, which in the original plans for DA was a pretty simple affair. A large woodie, and some other historic rides, as well as some livestock pens and other typical state fairgrounds type structures. I will be trying to keep to that simple style, yet make it interesting and vibrant.
The Civil War Fort, which will include battlefield tours and other surprises.
Victory Field, a WWII era airfield with motion simulators and other rides. This bench died a fiery death in my computer crash.
and of course
Liberty Square, with the Hall of Presidents and other colonial attractions, and Crossroads, USA which is the "main street" of the park. This was also completed but lost.
As for CS, yes, there is quite a bit of it, including tanks, airplanes, and jeeps as well as a complete aircraft hanger for victory field, various wild animals for the native america area, special signage for all parts of the park, trash cans, the Monitor and the Merrimac, and literally dozens of other surprises, only a handful of which have been shown on this thread. All of this CS has been worked on by a mysterious stranger, and it just shows up in my inbox. Very curious....
