Then I guess it is good that this site has a restricted dload section. My older computer has several backdoors, and it is almost impossible to fix, and stuff like that could cause this site to be hacked and to have data perminantly lost
Our history is one of exactly that - hacked, and then recover - hacked, then recover. Some have called us a bit paranoid, but we can live with that if it means we aren't still in that vicious cycle. (Thanks and a shout out to rcthelp & marinersfan59)

So, simply having a bad file on a server and not doing anything with it and running a virus scan on it can still cause problems?
Stupid hackers.
Virus scanners are meant for home computers which encounter very specific threats. Servers function quite a bit differently. For example there are exploits using PHP statements or Unix commands that once on the server - allow the person access to the very root of the server.
Fortunately we are protected against this, but there is a non-stop stream of new methods employed by folks who want to set up advertising, mailbots/spambots, and warez/torrent nodes - invisible to the site admin. You'd be surprised how many hosted sites already have this stuff on their server and doesn't get noticed until the site bandwidth is exceeded and the host shuts down the site...
Been there, done that.

True enough. No argument here. Don't underestimate your contributions though...
