Microsoft Photoeditor has a adjustable compressionslider for JPEG.
if you press save as and select JPEG and than Press "More >>" in the left under corner you can change the options (like the colors and the compression).

With RCT1 and RCT2 JPG is the worst option to use if you are looking for QUALITY rather than file SIZE.

I respectfully disagree. Maybe for purposes of RCT in-game or specialty applications, but .BMP as a format most assuredly does have more than 256 colors. It can be 24-bit and then 32-bit when using alpha channels.

Indeed, PNG also has a 24-bit palette capability. I was talking about BMP in an RCT [1 and 2] context.

My free image editor of choice is IrfanView

Thanks for the clarification. In the RCT context you are correct.

Irfanview is possibly the best free image editor out there.

Microsoft Photoeditor has a adjustable compressionslider for JPEG.

Ah, yes - Photoeditor. I though he was refering only to Paint. Which I never recommend. Photoeditor is slightly better, but Irfanview is much better and is free.

Well,
You all gave me great ideas that I will try !!!
I guesse it goes without saying: If you don't have a problem with something why change it.
For qiut sometime working with photos and drawings I have had no trouble till now.
It took something different to show me that all things can't use the same progam.
Believe me I am all for suggestions , and I thank you all for that.

Detour...

"If it ain't broke - don't fix it."

It is an old saw that on first glance - and initial thought - makes a lot of sense. Doesn't it?

In the real world though, it really doesn't. Would you fly in a plane that was never "fixed" because it wasn't "broke"? I sure wouldn't. Would you have faith drinking city water processed by equipment that was never fixed because it wasn't broke? If you have ever owned an auto - you soon find out that a program of preventative maintenance (or fixing it before it breaks) is much more cost effective than dealing with it only when it breaks and then fixing everything else that broke because of it. Replacing a timing belt for example. Never wait for it to break before fixing it.

This relates to computers and software as well. Do you never use a virus scanner until after you get a virus? Proactive maintenance and upgrading keeps a computer running. Just letting it go and fixing it only when it breaks usually means it breaks more often than normal...

OK - end rant

End Detour...

Enough with the editorial comments coming from Junior Moderators.

This thread is for answering specific questions about posting images, not griping about someone's posting style. If you have a problem with someone's posts, use the report a post button and let the actual staff here handle it. Otherwise ignore it.

It made perfect sense the first time I read it. He apparently sets it up for disaster and nothing happens. When he transfers data, no crashes or lag-time. So pretty much, that 10-year-old computer is doing better than my 3-year-old security-flooded computer.
