I do hope however that newer members will now understand that this thread is for the reunion/reminiscences etc. of members who where part of - and known by - the first hours and years of RCT....and that indeed if you are (relatively) new to the game/sites there are other topics to say "hello" instead of using this one for it......
Like Sam said: use the link he supplied, and not this one, if you are not a known member from the first RCT-sites years ago.....

I'm trying to get back into playing RCT2, so that's way I came back. I can't believe I've benn away for almost 2 years, it feels so much longer. I may start of just being a semi-lurker, but hopefully I can get back into the comunity proper (And win my self-proclaimed kingship back).
Edit: I just realized that tonight is a full moon, which makes my return kindy creepy....

Wow, it's good to see so many familiar faces.. er... screen names.
There were a number of RCT fan sites that came and went. Any webmaster "back in the day" that had a links page was always updating it with new sites. RCT was one of the most fan-friendly titles to come out in some time and will always have a spot in my heart and memory.
In the beginning of this thread, the end of RCT Station was brought up, and I just wanted to clarify something about this, since there is a little bit of confusion. At one time, money was a big issue. Because of all of the articles, tracks, parks, extensive community, etc, we used a horrendous amount of bandwidth. Because there was no way I could afford it, I shut the site down for a few months (4-6 as I remember) and we came back with a new design and some new features, one which was a download section which allowed users to upload tracks, parks, etc into a database, instead of emailing them to me, as had been done for the past several years. Unfortunately, that version of the site just wasn't "ready" in my opinion. I gave things a few months, but I wasn't able to get the site to a quality I was happy with. I'm not the kind of person who likes to do a half-assed job, so I decided to just close the site. It came rather sudden, I admit, and it angered a lot of people.
There were a lot of good times back then. It's still good to see that some sites are still up and running.
hey jim when's the site coming back!

So on that site I made a few friends, one friend in particular was my best RCT buddy at the time, Adix - made famous by New Element and his disputes with Danimation among the RCT communities. I don't know if Steven Franks remembers, and probably doesn't... but it was me and Adix who requested the Apollo's Chariot recreation online over AOL Instant Messenger. Adix was a huge fan, and I was too after hearing him hype it up sooo much. Still am today! We got the first releases before he put up for public download. At the time, I think it was still kind of in the "beta" stages, or incomplete. We were huge fans of Steve Franks' recreations. LOL Still am!
I was there for the whole competition between RCT Station and Danimation - which was quite rivetting for a 13 year old kid. It's what really made me want to create parks in more realistic terms and I focused on realism more than anything. I was somewhat successful, more so known for my track designs rather than parks. I was also there for the whole fallout in Danimation as well...
Some of the guys I remembered was Joe Holland for his amazing park recreations, Islands of Adventures to name one and Hershey Park. And then there was Boomer who made a lot of really kick *** parks too. Another friend I made at the time was IOAGuy, or at least he was known as that. I believe he moved his whole operation over to the new New Element website under a different alias. But was well known and reveered for his parks too, and really inspired a lot of my older projects. I got to see a lot of his parks before being released also. I also remember Dark Helmet and his RCT3D program, which was the coolest thing ever made! It actually turned the parks we've all created into actual 3D enviroments. It was at the time a dream realized! It was the craziest thing I have ever seen. It worked exceptionally well too. It looked like the beginning stages of RCT 3. It was huge! Waaaay beyond its time.
A few of the sites I remember was the RCT Depot - the cheater's paradise! Always on the cutting edge in modifying RCT. Which was of course Dr. J's website, featuring all kinds of interesting tools and trainers. I can't remember if was called RCT Depot, but there was definitely a Depot in there somewhere! And then I remembered Real Coasters (rides), which was featured on the Danimation site. It was the largest database of recreated roller coasters ever. There were also parks too. A lot of them were amaturish, but some were definitely were very accurate - inspiring me to take on certain projects and recreate them in a more realistic fashion.
I've definitely been around. I'm just now getting back into it. I've got somethings I really want to try and release too.
