He's using Vista, that's why it didn't work. Hence the name Vista in the title and him repeating it.

I finally got the registry issue solved (that's exactly what it was Sambo), and reloaded all my CS. No further problems at all. Then tonight we finally got around to adding the new video card - a Sapphire HD3870. I didn't need Crossfire X as I mainly just play RCT3.

Got the card all installed, opened the game. Even with the 200+ CS sets I have at the moment, the main game loaded in around 60 seconds, then loaded the scenario editor in about 45.

Back a year or so ago Sambo and I created a joint RCT3 Park here called "Disney's Adventureland Fantasy". At the time we were wrapping up work on it I had reached a point where Sam had to do some of the final touches as I could barely move in the park, even paused and with the graphics turned down so far that they were basicly just blobs of color, it was impossible to place anything at all.

So I opened this park a bit ago. Options are set to 'High Quality", reflective water, etc. Daytime fps run around 50, nighttime above 12 with a full park and it's not paused, so I'm perfectly happy. In fact I switched to Custom and got rid of things like shadows and trees outside of the park so I could bump up LOD just a bit more. Yes, I know other claim higher fps numbers, but I get enough that the action is very fluid and natural, so I don't expect more then that.

Even with the headaches of Vista, with a new system and some work I think it was well worth switching to it. I'm happy.

Congratulations!

How soon can we expect to see some more of your brilliant work? Shoot - I'd even settle for some not-so-brilliant work... :wait:

I'd take any work from anybody now, this is getting so boring.

I can't speak for Vista, but I can for Windows 7 beta. And, right now, it looks like RCT LL and RCT2 run perfectly. No problems so far. The installaion process, though, is a little sketchy, as sometimes, my computer looked frozen. Give it time, if it happens to you, and you'll see it'll start to copy files. Just give it a little time. Now to install Dragons IOA 6 and drexler patch.

Oh, and if you have a CD in your drive for RCT2, your desktop will take a while to load if your CD isn't spinning. Windows sees priority to make sure all CD's are spinning and can be read at all times before you can actually play any parks. Again, just wait. Also, with RCT2, it works without any compatibility options, but I'd recommend enabling the 256 colors one, so that you can see the different loading bars and what it says for their title. RCT, having a windowed option, needs no such thing. And it runs on full theming, no need to switch to basic theme, you can use Aero with RCT and RCT2, even though they are so old. Good job, CS!

Also, sorry for revival and long post.

I haven't had any problems actually running RCT1 and 2 with Vista...however the fact it runs RCT1 in a window only is REALLY annoying. Does anyone know how to get it to run in full-screen?

Count your blessings, kiddo! Most hackers would kill to get RCT to run in a window.
Not having to hit "Start" to access a trainer window every time you wanted to perform a hack, would of been a Godsend.
