Hello, I am COA.

You may know of me from rct2objectlist.com or rcttown. I have been playing rct2 since 2007 and still am but I am new to this site.
I have a question: Why can't I add a download? Are the downloads closed, or does my account need further e-mail approval?
Thanks!

Did you upload your file to a file hosting site?

No, but I shouldn't need to. Doesn't rctspace host them for me?

That isn't a "public" downloading section, it is mainly meant for contest winners and runner-ups, you can release it in the forums, also, nedesigns has a database that you can submit parks into, and maybe if you contact the administrator, you can submit a special park.

Yes it is different - at least for now...

The problem is one of security. Believe it or not there are folks out there who just love to upload nasties just to bring a site down. After a long history of fighting these folks off, we learned you just don't give the whole world access to the database.

Hope you understand.

Can't you still submit a file if it has been approved and is something special?

Sure if it has been approved and is something special, but we ask you to contact us (me usually) and we will instruct you on where to send the file. We will check it out and upload it. We then change the submitter name to the creator.

Not ideal - but more secure. :saint:

Yeah, and what do you mean by nasties?

Backdoors, purpose-specific trojans, worms, imbedded unix commands, there is a huge list. Simply put - extraneous coding intended to allow unauthorized access to a SQL database, or prevent it's normal functioning.
